Prime 4 jog wheel

Hi DJ’s,

Will here again for advice, is there a way to make the nudge on a Prime 4 jog wheel more stiff than the current response of the wheel, over the last three weeks I’ve been out playing live and been forced to play on Pioneer equipment, I have found the response of the jog wheels a little stiffer than my prime 4, is there a setting within my prime I’ve missed to set the tension? Now I have never played on other controllers before and noticed the difference straight away and enjoyed the feel of the response, anyone who has a Prime 4 know of this is possible? Thanks in advance, Will

Hi, no tension adjust on those models, only the SC and LC decks have that option.

Thanks Stu, that has saved me reading the log book again. Will

Coming from years of using Pioneer gear, usually on the tight setting, it took me a while to get used to the Prime 2, im not bothered about it now though. I still tighten up my LC-6000 however.

To say I was throw in at the deep end was an understatement lol I was told Denon was available lol got there early to sound check and only Pioneer, I had to also download record box 6 quickly, never used that also to move my music over to my mac, configured and set up my USB again with record box, lesson learned very quickly to take two USB one with Engine and one with Recordbox.

Hahaha yeah always carry a RB analysed USB in your bag, even if it’s not your most up to date tunes, it’s enough to get through a gig.

Id say the Pioneer controllers ive used with no tension adjust have always felt fairly similar to the Primes, with CDJs being completely different but more due to the mechanical jog wheel.

Yes that is sound advice bro, playing out is all new to me, so learning the craft as I go, CDJ’s was what I had to play on and then another controller like a prime this week, currently buying a second USB for that very problem.

Nope, that’s not an option on the Prime 4, and to me, that was a big missed check box because on a controller at that price point, it should have been an included option (feature?). The Prime 4 is direct competition with something like the Pioneer XZ standalone and I believe it has a tension adjust on it. Hopefully with the next big 4 channel Denon standalone along the lines of the Prime 4, they’ll include that option…

At the same price point, the Prime4 has other features that the XZ doesn’t have. Same goes for the Prime4+.

The truth and curious thing is that the last Prime 4 units that were sold have the jog wheel tighter, to the point that it is very difficult to do a medium and long backspin (the option of using the effect, I don’t like the sound of it, It seems too artificial, it would be good to give it a review by Denon) The truth is that you can only adjust the sensitivity from the touch adjustment menu, soft, medium, hard, etc… I don’t know if it works for you. I think I read somewhere that someone had dismantled the central nut of the axle and tightened the nut a little more, but of course, I don’t recommend it.

Thanks for this information, like you I would never recommend going inside a device that is manufactured to specific settings, I’m sure Denon have their reasons, it’s the first time I’ve ever used other equipment so noticed the difference, I personally don’t have a problem with the setting just wanted to know if there was one, it does come in handy for when using four decks at the same time for ease of quickness. Thanks TWYMS

If you change the jog sensitivity? in the options
