Prime 4 is getting slower and slower

Since the update to 3.1.1, searching and navigating on my Prime 4 has been very slow to unusable (it sometimes takes more than a minute to display the titles in a folder with 100 titles).

Searching was so slow that it was no longer possible at the event.

Thanks to this forum, I was able to solve the problem briefly: A factory reset fixed the device again. Suddenly everything was faster than ever.

Unfortunately, the joy only lasted half an hour, after which the Prime 4 GRADUALLY slowed down again. Not as extreme as before, but still very annoying in the workflow.

The same archive with the same SSD data carrier (also with SD) runs on my new Numark Nixstream Pro Go without any problems.

Is it possible that one or more functions on the Prime 4 (old model) are consuming so much RAM that it is slowing down as a result.

I need the thing professionally, do you have similar problems and maybe a solution or idea what I could try?

Kann es sein, dass eine oder mehrere Funktionen am Prime 4 (altes Modell) womöglich so viel Arbeitsspeicher verbraucht, dass der deswegen langsamer wird.

Ich brauche das Ding beruflich, habt ihr ähnliche Probleme und vielleicht eine Lösung oder idee, was ich probieren könnte?

If you think it’s caused by the firmware, you could try going back to an earlier version.

I dont have an old firmware file and this is more an workaround than a solution :slight_smile:

You can download all the older firmware from the downloads site if needed… and workaround or not, if you need it stable for gigs then it’s a valid option.

What is the type of music what you use? .MP3 / Flac / Wav?

I did have a look earlier, as I was going to say the same thing, but since the firmware has moved over to the enginedj site it looks as if only the latest is available.

If you have a look on here PK, you can scroll down then expand the version you want and its available to D/L… on the OS tab.

I had the very same problem last Saturday on a gig…it was a NIGHTMARE!! Even searching, selecting and downloading from Tidal was faster then searching on hdd!
Every customer request was a challenge ! I managed to finish the gig staying in one playlist without sorting by BPM or alike
So forget about resetting and stuff…here is what Denon officially recommended in their release notes of 3.1.1: Attach your P4 in PC mode to your engine PC/Mac and try a “database cleanup”.
I did this one day after this horrible gig and P4 performed lightning fast again. I am testing this state now since 3 days of continuous operation (playlist mode play and searching and plugging in usb sticks, etc …) and search speed is still good! Next gig is in 1 week and we will see…
BTW: I am also german-we can get in touch to exchange experiences or I can directly assist…(side note: I have 45k tracks on my P4 and I am trying to use it professionally…this device is making me nuts!! But hey-with the new sampler I can blow a horn…who bothers about searching music?!)

Back from holiday. Ive tried to optimize in PC Mode, i hope it works. First impression: Very fast So lets wait who the wedding tonight is working with my prime4

Update: 7 hours later: PERFECT, NO PROBLEMS - very fast!
