Prime 4+ Channel faders question - how to make them move more smooth?

I have been using P4+ for over 10 months now, I was thinking the issue will go away after some time (using them, djing).

They are working fine - no audio droputs etc. I don’t want to replece them.

Faders on channels 1 & 2 are slightly smoother

Faders on channel 3 & 4 are very stiffed, they moving up and down but I need to add some force to it..

I ‘ve try to cleaned them with compressed air, lubricating and do the stress test (moving them a lot up and down for extended time ) looks like nothing works…

Any special advise??

My P4+ is brand new, and all the controls work perfectly smoothly.

Can you hear a distinct scratching or grinding sound when you move the stiff ones?

That would indicate an assembly error. I strongly recommend taking the device in for service. There are a lot of screws and, above all, connections!

Just a tip: Never… really never, ever use compressed air on devices or anything like that. That will only force dust and other things into the potentiometers.

Lightly blowing it off, or even better, vacuuming it with a soft brush is okay, but never compressed air!

Maybe take a video of the situation, especially with sound, to record any grinding noises.

But I would generally recommend having the device serviced, as it’s still relatively new!

Thx for quick reply UwB

compressed air is recomended by Denon on official website

quote:

“Using compressed air duster, spray a few times in each fader slot. Position the fader all the way up, and spray from bottom to top using an upward motion. Be gentle when cleaning to avoid damaging internal components inside the fader”

Anyhow -

My channel faders work fine, no other issue then just being still slow..

I don’t want to add more cleaner/lubricant becasue I am worry about spilling over other electrical components.

Compressed air would be the last thing I’d use. Even if Denon says so.

I want the dirt out and not any more in… but well, if that’s what it says, I didn’t say anything.

Unfortunately, the linefaders are just mediocre on the P4 and P4+. This is not related to dirt, just wear and tear (I also use the inner channels more often than the outer ones, like most users). And yes, they feel rather stiff at first.

They do their job, but the smoothness is not great and the horizontal wobbling neither. Interestingly, the ones in my Live 4 feel better in both regards, possibly they use slightly improved sliders there. In both cases they are soldered, which is my most concerning issue. But since many users stated similar observations over the recent years, I have good hope that the linefaders will be improved in their future releases (including the X1850).

Until then, treat them gently, don’t smash them. Should Engine Lighting support it properly for the AiOs in future, I would switch to crossfader mixing - this is the way I learned and preferred it back then, anyway. ( @Liam )

Replaced my crossfader with InnoFader first week of using it - highly recommended step for anyone who likes to scratchhhhh
