Prime 4+ buttons hard to tell if on or off

On my Prime 4+ I find some of the new black buttons hard to ‘read’. I mean to see if the button is activated or not. There is not a lot of difference between ‘dim’ and ‘fully lit’, especially on the Sweep FX and the Sync buttons. It makes not a lot of difference if the environment is dark or light. The quality of the buttons may have been improved on the Prime 4+, but the readability has not. Do other users experience the same?

Some users have complained about similar visibility challenges, especially on the SC6000 line, if I remember correctly. Sync On/Off was one example. I ‘only’ own the Live 4, but LED feedback is fine for me here - actually really good, minus the missing RGB deck + cue indicators. Gonna have to give the P4+ a check once it hits the nearby stores.

How is the quality of the buttons on the Prime 4+? They look like the ones from the SC Live 4 - I found them incredibly stiff. You have to press pretty hard for them to pop out. Nothing for finger drumming.

Which buttons do you mean? Isn’t finger drumming something you perform on the pads? The pads are quite sensitve. If you mean the Cue and Play/Pause buttons: Yes, you really have to push hard. I’m used to Pioneer buttons and they are much easier to activate.

I mean the Pad- buttons

Ah, OK. The SC Live 4 has smaller and ‘clicky’ like button-pads. The Prime 4(+) has touchpads. So on the Prime 4(+) it’s way easier to fingerdrum.

Yes i have the same problem… the led on the P4+ are not very visible, it is not clear whether the corresponding keys are on or off, you have to get close to understand it

OMG, today I compared my Prime4+ to a Prime 4. On the Prime 4 it is so much better to see if a button is on or off. This is such a decline!

Yeah, when Denon decide to update the hardware on all the gear, I hope they go with hard plastic buttons like CDJ/XDJs have. So much easier to tell what’s going on. I also struggle to tell what’s going on with my SC6000M, so the problem is across the entire hardware line-up.

This is quickly becoming the MCX8000 “headphone cue brightness issue” of the Prime 4+. I’ve yet to see one in the flesh though.

That’s why I got myself a new P4, older kit but ( for me personaly ) Lightning is way better.

The button upgrade actually is a downgrade… ergonomically…

Hello everybody. You are right about the lighting of the Sweep FX. It is almost impossible to see which one is active. I hope that these LEDs have a margin of intensity so that it can be solved in future updates. Regarding the buttons, in my opinion, they have an adequate touch. The play and cue buttons are a bit harder to avoid accidents when “rubbing” them and the pads are very sensitive and that’s very good, especially now that you can use samplers and the speed of touch is very fast. The last Denon product I had was the MCX800 and those pads practically had to be activated with a hammer. They have improved a lot. Regards Pablo

I contacted support for this. They say this is not to be expected and suggest a re-install of the firmware, If that does not fix it, they advise to return the unit to the place of purchase… I already did the re-install and it did’nt solve anything… as expected.

It would be very interesing if we all returned our Prime4+…

we have started a feature request for it. please vote for it.

Although I think it’s more of a bug report!

Thanks. I’m afraid it is a design flaw, meaning that the LED’s can’t be brighter.

Can you link us to your feature request?

Thanks

of course

I searched the same problem and come here , at the moment It would be better to just have the headphone cue button lights without it being dim , just on or off completley , I couldn’t care if it’s dim , I would rather it be on or off so I can see it properly , this is only thing I hate about this unit
