Mine hasn’t done it since it was repaired. If you go through my topics created you can see I raised it on here. The cue and play become unresponsive and the platter stops working. On mine it’s because the grounding issue was confusing the platter into thinking a hand was on it.
Ah ok yeah that makes sense, technology aye?! Well hopefully after the repairs i will mention that to them too once ive sent it off. Happy that yours is working well mate, its reassuring that mine could be repairable
Yeah I’m hoping yours is the same issue so you can get it sorted. My retailer was great with the return.
Exact same issue for me with my Prime2 since updating to v3.4
I’m hoping it’s the firmware and not hardware. There are comments from Stu below saying it’s hardware root cause.
I will be rolling back to v3.2 to see if this resolves the problems.
Hello,
I have a prime 2 and also have that problem. However thats a problem that doesn’t happen all the time. Its very rare to happen but when it start the music starts stuttering like if somone is pressing the. Its curious that every comment that i’ve read, says the problem happens in deck2. Its happens to me only on deck 2. Before i know the workaround of turning off the vinyl mode, the only way to solve it is to reboot the controller and the problem stops.
So i dont know if it’s really and hardware problem, maybe some dust on the deck or just firmware bug.
Any advices? Should i send the controller to the warranty?
Exactly the same problem on deck 2 of the prime 2 here
The workaround I found is to unplug the power cord before turning on the prime 2, hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain the residual electricity then plug it back in and turn on the device.
Another method is to reinstall the latest firmware
But these two solutions only work for a while and it seems to come back recurrently
@STU-C I know you don’t use vinyl mode much but could you do some tests by enabling vinyl mode on your decks for an extended period of time (say a week) to see if you also encounter the issue on your prime 2, especially the deck on the right.
If this is the case it could well be that there is really a bug in the firmware since version 3.4 that could have escaped all those who do not use vinyl mode.
Ill certainly give it a go, in fact ill do my whole gig with it on next time around, but will wire it up at home in the meantime and see what it does.
I just created a bug report about this so the team can investigate.
Ive just done a 30 min mix with VInyl mode on and no issues, will continue to test it though for longer periods.
In most cases where I encountered this bug it was often in quite long sessions > 1 or 2 hours
Maybe it could have something to do with a bad detection due to the accumulation of static charge on the platter due to prolonged use.
Yeah its certainly possible isn’t it.
One other thing, we’ve just moved into a new house (only finished construction around 5 weeks ago) with all the latest safety features and certificates, is there a chance the grounding here is on a different level to older buildings? wiring and electrics have changed so much even over the past 10yrs.
I am not an electrician but I would tend to think that the more recent a home is, the more it complies with the most recent standards and the better the quality of the electrical installation. Which should therefore theoretically reduce the risks of grounding problems (even if a bad connection is still possible)
That being said, if it is indeed a bug related to the firmware, you should encounter it at one time or another even if your grounding is good.
Yeah and I’ll definitely keep on testing it to see if it pops up. Leaving my Prime 2 on the kitchen counter for a few days (much to the delight of the boss) so will get a few more sessions in.
Hello, I’ve had the “Prime 2” since May 2022 and have been updating from the oldest versions to the current one. Since then, I’ve encountered an issue with the left jog when I activated auto play on the right; clearly, the left one deactivated, and when returning to normal mode, it started stuttering in vinyl mode. I restarted it and it worked fine. I’ve visited this forum several times, reading about hardware and software. This has happened to me several times, but restarting solves it. I don’t use the equipment much, maybe once a month. The other day, I was with a friend for two hours without issues. However, after leaving it off for six hours, when I turned it back on, the stuttering reappeared. I always unplug the unit when I turn it off. I restarted it twice without success. I remembered that once, a friend accidentally unplugged the mixer while it was playing, and it didn’t shut down immediately, likely due to capacitors preventing data loss, shutting down safely. With the information I had read about static electricity and not touching the mixer when turning it on, I decided to unplug it and press the power button. The unit turned on for 1-2 seconds and then shut off, discharging the capacitor. This possibly solved the problem since the jogs are capacitive. When I turned the mixer back on, vinyl mode worked perfectly. Since I use the mixer only once a month and it’s unplugged from the power, I think the capacitor discharges. I hope this helps.
Hello,
After sending the Controller to warrant, never had that problem no more. It looks like it was a problem on the right deck. They changed some parts on it and now it works great!
Thanks for the info.
I know that it was something with the deck, as they told me that they’ve changes some components of the deck. Just didn’t know technically what has been replaced and why.
