Prepare clear / remain option

Can the prepare have the option to clear or remain? At present it automatically clears once a track is sent to one of the decks. If remains it could just go green once it has been played like all the other tracks in a regular playlist. This would be very handy, I have sent it to one of the decks and then changed my mind for another track, then I have lost the track from the prepare list and then have to search for it again.

I wish I had votes left. I would totally vote for this!!

Agree, had the same issue multiple times, I would vote for this.

This is one I’ve wanted for a while too. I’m pretty sure there was a feature request for it. Having the option to keep tracks in the prepare list until cleared (like a button at the top to ‘Clear Prepare list’ or something like that).

Many times during a gig I’ll load from the prepare list then randomly change my mind, only having to find it again.

Using it as a way to demo tracks for an upcoming gig is a decent use-case. Swipe to load it to prepare as you search your database then either leave it there for later or dump it to a playlist if you need it for future.

It’s not a major dealbreaker but a ‘nice to have’ for the way I work.

I think it was a request for a toggle option to clear the Prepare folder on unit restart.

Anyway…same thing as this to be honest. While I understand that every DJ has a different workflow maybe trying to make Prepare something it isn’t (a playlist) is a wrong way to do it?

Maybe it would be better to improve playlists in a way so you can use them the same way you use now Prepare folder: easier creation on the units, playlist set a favorite (shortcut on the bar), easier and faster track loading to playlist(s)?

I’m very much up for playlist tweaks and some small refinements throughout. I’ll absolutely agree on that.

I think the more ways we can do things the better and if there’s any work being done around the way playlists and prepare work then I’d gladly throw my 2p worth in.

I always use the prepare to quite literally prepare for a set. Having an quick option to dump any prepare tracks to a playlist for another time would be a thing I’d use but I know others use their equipment differently depending on the type of DJ, venue, production type or equipment/software used.

In Serato DJ I’d keyboard shortcut tracks to the prepare box when preparing for a production. Then when I had tracks I was happy with and ones that I’d be comfortable with playing I’d drag and drop to a crate. I would DJ things like sports events and fashion shows so using the prepare window with a client to audition tracks so just dropping tracks in works. This is handled differently to how I’d DJ in a club where I’d just drop direct to a crate.

It will be interesting to see how playlists and prepare evolves over the coming years.
