Phase Cancellation better than AI separation?

Okey hopefully this is phase cancellation or you can correct me.

I managed to record some short loop parts of this song, to avoid the copyright issues. Both are the exactly same loops but they sounds different and thats not an EQ. For some reason managed to cancel the kicks and snares from master tracks when connecting stereo RCA to one studio mixer channel. So 2 RCA cables removes that punchy drums, while I can still feel the subbass but removing one cable (mono) bring back the kick and snares like on the original part of this record. The melody is still there for both but tonality or characteristic its a little bit different? This might be weird but can be useful. This cancellation worked better than AI for me :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yeah, depends a bit on how a track was produced. For example when you switch the phase of one channel, and then sum them, all real mono parts will cancel out, and the difference will be left over. Usually the difference is just the reverb channels output, or if the melody was panned rather hard to one side, it will be left over too…
