One more q regarding signal flow on prime 4

Hi again friends - I remember what I wanted to ask. Where is the D/A in the signal chain on the prime 4 in standalone? im wondering if the eqs / gain / mix buss are applied digitally (in the case of playback coming from the prime4, not external vinyl

so is it… PLAYER > D/A > trim/eq/mixbuss > Output, or…

Player > trim/eq/mixbuss / D/A > Output (or onboard recorder)

And in the case of the mix recorder - is it entirely ‘in the box’ or are we suffering an additional trip from a - to d on the backend?

Again, I understand it has to be this way in the case of external playback or vinyl - talking about all in the box here.

Thanks!!

The P4 is totally digital mixer, all software driven. It is basically a built in computer with a sound card. So the A/D and D/A are on the sound card.

Interesting. U sure? What about when youre playing vinyl? or using the mic inputs? youre saying that these signals aare then A/D’d and then d/A’d on the way back out? what sample / bit rate does this occur @?

forgive my sceptizissm and no disrespect, certainly plausable in the case of 'in the box’audio… but I struggling to understand how they would then impliment stuff from outside the digital realm… and still be a ble to mixthat down and include as a source to the main mix / recorded mix
