Notebook Crashes using Engine DJ 2.0.2

Hey there, bought a Prime 2 and as a mobile DJ i want to change from using Notebook and Virtual DJ on a MCX 8000 + Daslight on another Notebook to that All In One solution on the Prime 2 with Engine Lighting. But before even starting i can’t be more frustrated.

First i updated that Prime 2 to the latest version 2.0.2. and installed Engine DJ 2.0.2. on my Windows Notebook (i5/ 16GB RAM). As a next step i want to bring my library from the notebook into the Desktop Software. It starts working fine via Drag & Drop into Collection and Playlists. At some point the software crashes randomly. First i thought it only happens when a folder has more than 1000 files (it turned out to happen randomly). Sometimes it happens early, sometimes it happens after 25.000 tracks have already been read into the software.

After crashing the only way out is a cold reset of the notebook. Afterwards the playlist folders are still into the Engine DJ software but there are no tracks in the collection anymore. I can try to restore the latest backup. after loading the backup there are still no songs in the collection.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Engine DJ plenty times. I erased all leftover folders by hand.

How can i fix the problem? Is there any other (even better) way to bring the music from my notebook to the Prime 2?

I want to work with the Prime 2 standalone in the end using Engine Lighting by Soundswitch too. It all sounds too amazing to be true. But all that i experienced so far is the same frustrating moments that i remember trying to use the MCX 8000 standalone with the Engine software back in 2016/2017

Thankful for your answers, Chris

You may need to remove the database folder that’s created and try it again.

C > Music > Engine

Also try importing your music files without auto analysis enabled in Engine DJ settings.

@mufasa can you import crates from serato lite to Engine DJ?

That maybe could work better?

I can import all my crates from Serato DJ Pro to Engine DJ (desktop) 2.1

No problems here

I mean the free lite version of Serato.

If he is not using Serato he will not have the Pro version

The database of Serato DJ Lite and Pro are the same. Both are free to download and use without any hardware connected. Same database also works with Serato Scratch Live (btw)

That’s great, so he could use it to try it out.
