Noob questions regarding SC6000M

Thinking about getting 2xSC6000m and has a few questions. Sorry for these being complete noob questions… I’ve used the x1850 for a few years with control vinyl and traktor but no experience with these players…

Does it reverse loop (eg. Jump back 8 beats and set an 8 beat loop)?

Can I use stems? If so can I use stems that I prepared with another software?

Can I change the font size for the browser/list row height? Many of the photos I’ve seen only show 6-8 tracks on the screen, was hoping to show more when browsing…

Thanks in advance

No reverse loop like in traktor. You can Use stems. You can’t use stems from another program - only engine dj stems can run on engine os gear. Aa icon changes font size.

Yes. Not with other software. Only prepared by Engine.

The SC 6000M is a must buy bro. The stems have to be prepped in Engine first but then they’re wonderful. Also, there is no reverse loop but there is a loop move feature using shift on the auto loop. Works like a charm.

Hi,

I have two SC6000M players, they are wonderful. As far as I know, there is no way to change the font size … yet. Several features have been added since I have bought the players. They offer a lot of features to get creative. Maybe you can find a local shop where you can try out some of the features. When I went digital, I tried out several standalone units and players, coming from vinyl I felt intuitively at home with the SC6000M players, because there is something that’s spinning. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

The x1850 is a wonderful mixer. Once you have two players, check the manual how to connect them properly, use the digital outputs and inputs, a nice RCA cable is included - it is absolutely fine for the digital connection. You will have 4 decks, deck colour is customisable.

Stems must be prepared in the Engine DJ library software - which I am a fan of, I like it a lot better than rekordbox or Serato. You must buy a 10$ stems licence though and log in with your DJ profile on the players. There is something called Sync Manager, with that you can export your playlists and the associated to a USB drive …

Engine DJ is free, you can download and install it without having specific DJ hardware. You cannot preview stems in the software … yet(?). And as far as I know, there is no direct way to import stems from other software into Engine DJ. I use Engine DJ not only for set and track preparation, but as a library for all my music. I love it a lot.

I’m glad that you’re enjoying your decks. I have M’s and they are the BOMB! You can change the font size. See below:

Ah, I have not thought about this this. :see_no_evil:

On my players this switches between two font sizes in the playlist, I thought more about something like a global font size setting, which allows for more values, for all screen content. But you are right.

Thanks to all for the advice! Getting a pair of 5000Ms at a decent price, probably upgrade soon.

One thing I would be missing is the sequencer, I use my kontrol F1 in traktor to control the step sequencer… wondering if I could still install traktor on a surface pro and use ableton link on the mixer to send the BPM info and phrasing.

Also is there a way to put playlists in different folders rather than having them in one long list?

good choice to start your experience. When you are infected, you probably can upgrade. main difference is the much bigger display, different jog with quick lock spindle and rest are some cosmetics

of course, engineOS fully supports Ableton link.

5000Ms :scream:. Why the older ones?

cause the price… I have access to 2x LC6000, so I will get some usage on the better jogs… but no motor obviously. Going to keep my eye out for good priced used 6000Ms and will hopefully make money when I go to sell the 5000s

The 5000M is 7 yrs old and won’t appreciate in price.

When buying used equipment, the price is highly variable. One can find a great deal or one can find a rip off when searching. If one buys an item at a deep discount (compared go current pricing), there is usually profit to be made when selling.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain.

I know the game. Been in it for a quarter century now. eBay for DJ gear in 99 and the early 2000s was quite lively.

The only new gear I’ve purchased is my current generation.

was a bit cheeky there with my response, my apologies. I remember getting records for crazy deep discount in the torq and final scratch days. Serato and traktor just released and everyone selling their vinyl for dirt cheap… wish I had bought more back then

All good m8! Those were crazy days indeed! I too wished I bought more vinyl then.

I did make one amazing score a few years ago: bulk purchase of “new old stock”, which was liquidated from dancerecords.com. Got about 60 records, with a hand full of gems.

It was so great to unpack new (yet old) records and rotate the sleeve for the first time

I wished I had bought more Technics Turntable at that time and left them unopend to sell nowadays… even used Technics were good value for money, inexpensive - completely overpriced these days.

Not if you own a pair in immaculate condition, the price is perfect :rofl:

My biggest bargain is the DDJ-SP1 used from eBay for £140, and it hadn’t actually been used, still going strong.
