Next generation standalone

Was it only a screenshot 2024? This is a video. I guess someone used the screenshot with some ai software and made a short video then

Anyone involved with a possible beta would risk losing their beta access if they were to confirm or deny the existence of something like this, in this thread.

Looks less like Torq 2.0 and more like an evolution of Deckadance to me, which would make sense considering InMusic owns that IP and hired Luis Serrano, who previously took over coding for it when the creator passed away. Luis Serrano was also the creator of the first full DJ MIDI controller (Kontrol KDJ-500) beyond that simple trigger and speed control (P2J Box) that DJ Pierre supposedly was involved with, though Pierre won’t return my messages and I’m not sure how well that thing worked. If there was one person I’d put in charge of both the software and the hardware for Denon DJ, it’s Luis Serrano. The touch platter tech alone on his stuff was better than anything InMusic is using on their latest gear, and his faders were always 14bit, even on the DJ Tech and Hanpin stuff.

His tech could easily be adapted for a new hybrid Prime player that no longer requires separate motorized and non-motorized models. Do one small combo player separate, and then do a hybrid full-size turntable as successor to the Numark X2, and learning from the VL12 mistakes. Both would titillate current SC5000 and SC6000 M and non-M owners, depending on their needs. Then a new mixer (X1900) with replaceable upfaders, optional rotary kits (like old Denon DJ), and other improvements on it, and they’d be on a good track. Oh, and the players would need Apple and Amazon Music chips. It wouldn’t even be a bad idea to put CD or DVD-Rom drive in the smaller combo players since CD is making a comeback. A simple computer 5.25in drive bay unit like the Gemini used.

I came across this circulating the net.

Insane if it was real but obviously not..

Nah, that’s a bad concept. Throwing in 4 channels just for the sake for it doesn’t make much sense. It’s neither a battle setup (faders too crammed) nor a club setup (EQs, Sweep FX missing), and inMusic doesn’t utilize square screens anyway.

A 4-channel System Whatever would have to be roughly based on the Prime 4 layout, with the screen sitting above, to properly work.

The system one is big and heavy enough as it is. A 4 channel version would be difficult to lift (especially in a hard case) and wouldn’t fit in a lot of DJ booths.

I suspect a lot of people buy 4 channel units and only ever use two anyway. The system one has a separate aux and Bluetooth input anyway so that does the job.

Moin @Homeland101 ,

May be but for me I’m using all four channels for different purposes and I need the four channels really badly :innocent:

I picture one 12.3” (1920x720) ultra wide touch display spanning the device and 8” mechanical platters for the next Denon flagship.

Why? Because why not? Conventions need to be broken.

I think it’s already “kinda” like a three channel mixer aka Prime 2 with use of the AUX in?

I suppose one could get really creative…

Maybe an iPad loaded with additional FX to apply on top of what’s already playing or even better perhaps one main theme song playing on AUX in..

As in something like the STAR WARS theme (as one suggestion) while mixing & scratching back and forth matching STAR WARS sounds and scratch FX on the two main decks?

I’m sure the right DJ could pull it off and it would sound wicked.. I honestly don’t do any scratching in my workflow as I live mostly in an EDM world. :joy:

I guess that’s why the Prime 4 sold so well and the Prime 2 was a bit of a failure but still loved by the people that have it.

I still think motorised “scratch” controllers are better being 2 channel. Although I don’t scratch as such I just think the motorised platters look really good.

Yep, when I was using my HS5500s for gigs, people were always fascinated by them. :eyes:

What people want is a:

  • unit the size of 2 x SC6000(M) + X1850 4ch size mixer section in between - but lightweight
  • With a single screen being able to show all info present on 2 SC6000 player screens - but not double in size
  • To be fully standalone - but also be designed to work with all competitors DJ softwares
  • To have all external mixing options - but pay less for it than the SC6000(M)+X1850 combo

See? So simple. /s

Now on a serious note: some people just need to stick a full club setup of choice in a (as light as possible) prewired flightcase and not spam social media/forums with unrealistic wishes. Just my 2.5 cents.

Denon had the opportunity to indirectly kill two birds with one stone assuming the p4+ and sclive 4 get real time stems if they made an lc6000m a missed opportunity in my view

The goal with the prime 4+ was real time stems. There was a beta os that i tried out and it was not good sounding. Thats why pre analyzed stems arrived. They underestimated how much processor power that was needed for it to work.
