Newbie question from old DJ

Hi,

I have recently bought 2 x SC6000m controllers and I’m extremely happy with them. Denon have done a fantastic job of creating a vinyl like controller which is something I’ve been looking for for many years.

My question is regarding midi controllers. I have came to Denon via Traktor and Serato and I was wondering if there is any way of using my old Midi Fighter (from DJ Tech Tools) with my current Engine Prime set up. Primarily I would like it to fire off on shots through a spare channel on my mixer.

I’m aware there is no midi mapping function and this would be a massive job to integrate in to Engine, but I was wondering if this was in the future plans. If not, it’s no big deal as I can see we can use the pads to do what I’m looking for.

I assume this is something that has been asked many times before, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.

Many thanks

Hi Gary

No known method of using those that I know of. As you say though, Inmusic have recently included a sample player inside the Engine devices, you can load your samples into those and use them to trigger the sounds with the pads.

Maybe use Traktor+Midi fighter+audio interface on the spare mixer channel and sync Traktor with SC player through Ableton Link?

I never knew about the Android/IOS Abelton link apps. I’ve got an old 10" tablet lying around doing nothing. That might just be a great idea.

Thanks Ren3.

I’ve got some researching to do now.

And the good thing is that some of those apps let you add a MIDI controller to the tablet. Launchpad and Remixlive are great.
