Show me otherwise.
For now maybe but the 6k series have way more screen real estate and it’s not on there just to make everything bigger. They will eventually have their own feature set.
The rubber buttons have practical implications beyond the cosmetic: on the positive side it prevents broken button outers from extremely aggressive users, and on the negative side it allows varying the depth of presses that can increase tact switch wear as well as the rubber producing micro debris as it erodes that can gum up the tact switches. The new jog is also described as having been “re-designed from the ground up.” There could have been a pun in there. Let’s ignore the SATA bays and the locking IEC plugs, since I think they’re extraneous. We have no hard info on the internal chips or other internal design of the SC6000s as compared to the SC5000 that we do have good info on, so there’s no basis to conclude the insides are otherwise the same.
Although there is no hard info I can easily infer that the internals will be the same as in the prime 4. The retail prices alone suggests that there is no technology leap.
My thoughts exactly
so, all good now, but i think denon have released enough hardware for the market now, and at now they priority is on the software/engine os developing for all units to make it real good
Not quite - there’s more hardware being announced tomorrow.
That LL video showed the deck under the covers with the mixer beside it under the covers to. (Which most thought was just the plain ol x1800 lol). But there was something else under the covers too and it might give a clue on the profile of the prime2 maybe or another product.
A sampler for prime 4
I like where you started that video. Of course it has a “new processor” relative to the 5000.
Is it the same as the one in the Prime4 though?
Denon does stuff like this. The hc2500 and the hc5500 were the same just different shells. The hc4500, dns1200 and the dns3700 were the same just different shells also.
I’m leaning on the 6k being the same way. They came out too early. They could have new processing tech though.
Without going into details, SC5000 and Prime4 both have the Rockchip RK3288.
with same materials of PRIME 4 or with the new built materials of the SC6000 (Buttons and touch feeling completely restyled)?
I noticed in the video from Phil of Digital dj tips, he mentioned that the SC6000 have a new CPU. So there could be an upgrade.
Interesting, that is a powerful chip for the use.
If that’s the case current prime users shouldn’t be worried about future upgrades cause the 5000 is only using half of what the p4 uses.
I hope more enlightened users will come to that conclusion.
I’d see no reason to update the SOC. In fact I’d be rather surprised if they did as that would mean building and supporting a second Linux kernel for the new chipset.
I doubt the one in the SC5000’s is even being maxed out in 99% scenarios. Additionally, if the P4 is using the same chip and able to handle 4 simultaneous decks rather than the SC5000’s 2, this goes to further show the current SOC is not a bottleneck.
I’ve watched a few of Phil’s videos and with all due respect to him, he doesn’t seem to be the most technologically aware person. I think he’s good at reviewing DJ gear but would stop short of saying he’s aware of what’s happening at a lower level with the gear. The CPU comment sounds much like a throwaway comment rather than one filled with substance.
Maybe they made some software optimalisation as loading tracks on the videos looks way faster.
But yeah, let’s wait and see it on person, or maybe someone from Denon can take this mystery out of the shadow?
