Hi folks. Brand new prime go plus. Factory sealed, but some oddness!
it was logged into an account
it had Bluetooth devices added
jogs protected plastics look like they have been put back on
And lastly 4) it’s taking 2 hours to charge and I’m getting about 4hrs battery with WiFi on with zero use, just left doing nothing, I get a lot less in use
I having a feeling this a refurb (not a good one)
Mainly my issue is battery life, though 5 hours was about standard..
Hmmm, my advice would be to send it back and source one from a proper DJ retailer. I used Phase One DJ and when my unit had to be repaired, Mike at Phase One dealt with everything, I just had to drop it off. The issue wasn’t solved first time so he just sent it back again for me.
Try and find one local to you so you can pick it up in person and also if you ever need support you can easily drop it off.
I have a Denon Prime Go, and the battery life really depends on the settings you’re using. If you have the screen brightness all the way up, I think around 4 hours is pretty solid—especially if you’re mixing, applying effects, using Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. I’d say that’s kind of the standard.
From my experience, the battery life is actually very good. Like I said, it all depends on certain settings, especially the screen brightness. By default, it lowers the brightness a bit when running on battery to reduce power consumption. That can make the battery last a little longer or shorter. But overall, 4 hours is more than fine in my opinion.
I have an original Go and a Go+ and there’s around four hours battery in them. Keep the screen brightness down a little and turn off stuff you’re not using (like WiFi etc) and you’ll get a little longer.
As for the BT already having devices in and jog plastic being removed, that sounds like a return. Someone bought it, had a little play (or a gig) then realised it’s not quite for them so bundled it back up and sent it off to Amazon.
A refurbished uint would have at least had a factory reset which would have removed the BT devices from memory.
It’s clear you bought a previously used item, from a non-authorised dealer. It sounds like they haven’t checked a return to see if it had been used or not. ‘Factory sealed’ is an easy enough thing to circumnavigate if you’re the type of person who likes returning things and pretending they’re unused. How used it is is unknown but the fact several BT devices were connected and a basic look around at how many absolute cretins there are populating this globe we reside on, it’s likely someone has used it plenty before chucking it back.
Regardless of that, the time the battery lasts may depend on many things, how fast are your waveforms? How bright is the screen? Are you using sync? How much gain are you using on the master? It could be anything reducing the battery. Best thing to do is not rely on it for an important set, always have power when it’s anything more than casual.
3.5 to 4 hours battery would be pretty much under a general use scenario for my unit. When you see ‘four hours’ stated on items then it’s generally sterile conditions on a test bench with volume under 50%, no WiFi, screen dimmed etc. They aren’t always “real world’ usage but can be if treated right.
It’s a bit like a car quoting the MPG and then thinking that you’ve never had that out of it in a million years. Electric car owners have their battery stated with most power-draining stuff turned off for optimal use. You will get 10 more miles but you’d have to turn the infotainment system off etc.
Mojaxx loves the Prime Go and he did a review. He talks about battery and he said he gets around the same as I do from it. If you do feel it’s a reason that you could use to exchange it the maybe it would put your mind at rest.
