I haven’t had any issues with my SC6000s, but back in the day, I had grounding issues with my SX2. I eventually bought Furman power conditioners, and never had that happen again. But like I said, pressure sensitive platters don’t even have to deal with that as a possibility.
Yeah fair point, I’m just haunted by far too many awful condition CDJs in bars where the pressure pad is worse for wear haha. The CDJ3000 one feels ultra nice though, much improved.
I had issues with my SX1 and even more with my MCX8000. That thing really did not like some venues!
The Prime 4 has been pretty reliable with very little issues but I’ve seen the odd one. These things happen so could just be defects.
Wanted to give my 2 cents here as I just received the RX3, feeling a bit disappointed.
We currently use a Denon Prime 4, but wanted to give our artists an option for Pioneer gear as well.
On paper the RX3 looks like it’s the perfect Pioneer controller, all DJM900NXS2 effects + the CDJ3000 screens although running at a lower framerate. The buttons on the Pioneer do feel a bit more sturdy, which is something truly important.
I’ve connected both DJ sets to my Focal CMS65 monitor speakers and compared the output. The quality difference here is insane, the Prime 4 sounds so much clearer, more depth, better highs, better and cleaner lows.
The RX3 sounds very muffled and there is just a blend of bass, not a lot of depth (almost none), something is happening to the sound.
There is this blend of low-end and no real space so it’s really hard to mix kickdrums properly on this thing although I’m 1000% confident they are the right BPM, also just tried it with the beat sync.
The real shock kicks in when starting the ‘Master Tempo’. On the Denon I can continue to hear the kickdrum properly when pitching with Keylock/Master Tempo on even when pitching far from the original BPM.
I’ve mixed on CDJ2000NXS2 + DJM900NXS2 in the past as well and don’t remember the master tempo to sound this bad, it can be the combination of colouring in combination with the DAC output.
I don’t mind getting a bit less wonderful output, but the difference is incredibly huge here. I suspect something is going on here, because I’m now seeing that the XZ apparently is using better specced DAC’s. I wonder how the CDJ3000 sounds compared to this ‘Master Tempo’, I don’t believe this is how master tempo sounds on the XZ or either 3000’s as it just sounds horrible. It seems like an old implementation.
I’m not trying to hate here, I truly want to love this device so bad as the buttons are fantastic, at least give me the option to get a clean sound from the output for this price.
Considering to switch to the XZ now for our artist now, as the output is considered better. For this price I think the output is unacceptable, especially the music is getting ruined already before getting into the sound system.
Using XLR or RCA outputs on the Prime 4 and RX3?
XLR of course! I need balanced output.
