New Laptop - How to move collection from external drive back to internal?

Hi community, I have a new laptop and want to put my collection + playlists back on. When i open Engine DJ, it reads the external drive just fine. How do i let it copy all the files and reallocate to the internal drive? BR,Nils

You don’t let it copy anything as it’s not the role of Engine to do that from the music source perspective.

I would do this:

  • With engine not running: Copy your host database (manually make a backup)
  • Copy the files from your external drive to the internal one
  • Unmount the drive (and disconnect it)
  • Open Engine, and width the main collection in view, right click one or missing files and choose auto-relocate.

See if this fixes your problem.

Thanks for the advice. That worked:

  1. Copy all databases from the external device to internal
  2. Copy all music files to the internal hdd
  3. Start Engine DJ and “Auto Allocate” (Almost found all files, had few to manual relocate)

I had a similar situation and auto relocate only failed with duplicate file names for me. Was that the case for you?
