I have read that In-Music are in the bidding process ![]()
Yeah the NI forum is on fire at the moment.
I can’t help but think about inMusic stepping in here, adding NI to their group.
[a few seconds later] ah you beat me to it
Yeah just read about that. Added to my original post above.
It will be Jack or Uli.
Hope not AT.
Well AT’s more about hardware, and although NI do make hardware, it’s the software side that they’re known for. They’ve already been working with Akai for the last year, and the MPC users have been loving the plugins, so…
I’ve only recently moved away from Traktor. It was my “go to” system for years, along with the S4 Mk3 controller.
However it wasn’t keeping up with its competitors, & the attraction of DJay’s flexible beatgrids & on the fly stem analysis was too much to resist.
Hopefully somebody will step in & rescue it.
I had a short but good time with Traktor Duo (after my first hobby attempts with VDJ and before sticking with Serato DJ for many years). It was a very solid and polished package around 2010, nearly perfect for anything electronic.
Bummer how they lost their track. As a German it hurts even more. At least we still have Ableton (also located in Berlin btw)
I used to be a hardcore Traktor user, including being big into creating mappings for all sorts of controllers. I used to also be a big Maschine user, from the mk1 days. I also used to be a a Komplete Kontrol keyboard user for many years.
But I think this is NI’s fundamental issue. I used to be a user of all those NI things.
I actually don’t think I’d buy NI if I were inMusic. I think that, unfortunately, NI might have had their day and have been replaced by the likes of Ableton & Algoriddim.
F Native Instruments. And I say that as a Traktor user.
Still cannot forgive them for not Traktor certifying Denon’s X600 mixer, just to better sell their upcoming Z2.
Didn’t wanted to make any of Denon’s players as HID controller, either the D&M Holding ones (S3700, SC2900, SC3900) or inMusic ones (SC5000, SC6000).
It’s hardly surprising they’re going into insolvency- they’ve done very little of consequence for the last decade.
I wouldn’t be surprised if InMusic bought their name … I keep expecting to see some Stanton standalone consoles powered by Engine… so some Engine powered NI / Traktor consoles or M-audio products sharing Engine and Traktor branding wouldn’t be too far a stretch
Is nobody talking about the bigger problem of an imminent bankruptcy of NI? If the curator takes their activation servers down your NI software licenses will be rendered useless… Say goodbye to your old Traktor or Komplete software…
I can’t believe the panic. It’s like watching a bunch of headless chickens running around.
This has only hit the news today. NI are not dead yet. The company has not ceased trading. Management remains in place. No employees have lots jobs. Products and licences do not suddenly stop working. Quoting from the article below:
Well, it looks like the perfect time for Jack to open his wallet and buy NI.
It would make perfect sense since Alesis/Akai are already in the music production and plugin sector. And InMusic’s DJ division could get its hands on a bunch of interesting patents, like those of iZotope… It would probably be a good move to add NI and all its subsidiaries to their brand portfolio. But you can be sure that AT would try to block the acquisition.
It’s really sad to see how NI has lost its footing in the industry these past few years. Their Z2 is still, for me, one of the best, most robust, and most reliable battle mixers on the market.
Edit : Apparently, the European Commission has already approved the acquisition of NI by Bain Capital and Bridgepoint Limited, according to this article… Fun fact: Bain Capital is the holding company behind Domino’s Pizza
Old news. The approval was granted in December, but the acquisition did not take place - hence the current situation. As mentioned in the article I posted.
Ah yes, I was misled by the article’s date.
I can’t believe it’s not butter!
This is true as it’s not the 1st time this has happened either, I believe.
Yes, 5 years ago there were speculations of A&H buying out Traktor too.
Some common sense for a change…
I wonder where this leaves OneLibrary. Ni announced that Traktor would be getting this out soon back in October, and I have been hanging on news this update.
