I’ve looked in previous topics but not found a solution of yet on here so far so apologies if anyone has posted the solution.
I’m a mobile party DJ using Denon MC4000 from new for many years now & love it… Btw I’m using good spec updated windows 10pro laptop on VDJ 2024 pro license if that helps.
However, my last 2 gigs at the weekend my MC4000 controller has suddenly started to freeze as if it’s on pause for all functional faders & controls yet the audio will still play from laptop which can only be controlled by mouse or touch pad.
How its starts…All is working fine as normal then…
Audio drops out for a 1-2secs
then controller appears to freeze i.e. no response from faders or anything
yet audio continues to play from laptop through controller to PA.
I can still DJ but only using a mouse only laptop controller is stuck even with level lights on last beat before it froze.
Only way to clear it is to power mixer off & back up again but it happened 3 times on Sat night & very embarrassing when audio cuts out just before it freezes etc.
Huge problem anytime but worse in Xmas Season when I’m out most nights.
Any advice would be great on how to fix this bug thanks
PS I’m not hugely technical so go easy on any questions keep it lamens terms thanks
OK, if VDJ is still controllable from the mouse on screen then it looks like a potential hardware fault with your controller.
If it were a problem with the audio drivers only the sound would drop out and if it were a VDJ lock up the whole interface would freeze. A VDJ crash would blank the screen for a second then the software would automatically restart.
To eliminate the current build of VDJ (8472) as a potential issue you could install an older version from the link below to see if it still happens. If that solves the issue then you can raise it on the VDJ forum although I suspect it is something else.
Check that the middle part of the USB B socket on the controller is not broken/cracked. Moving the cable while connected in that case is known to produce disconnects.
Also, power surges can be the cause even if the power supply is ok.
