Lord have mercy - Serato acquired by AlphaTheta Corporation

hopefully you’re right, would be a shame if it didn’t appear due to the legal wranglings going on…

It would definitely be a shame, but i can see that landscape changing now.

Speaking of the devil… the P4+ is all of a sudden on that page

i had a little chuckle about that last night.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Alpha aquired Serato just to limit/kill it to leave new DJs less alternatives to rekordbox to pick from.

Don’t forget they also added scrolling waveform for the OG P4. That’s very unlike Serato, they rarely go back to add stuff to older hardware…perhaps the p4 and p4+ are so similar

Have they? That’s fantastic if so. It kinda irked me they didn’t have them while others did.

Its a bit weird they never added the Prime 2 isn’t it… is it the only Prime device not supported?

That’s a good question, why the P4 and not the P2…

Hey Serato: GIVE ME THE PRIME GO!!!

[all caps rant]

I might be wrong but they have haven’t they?

Not that I know of, unless I’ve missed it. The Numark Mixstream Pro Go has support now.

Yeah i just looked and its not listed, i had some weird memory of it being added alongside the Numark stuff but must have been dreaming.

It’s just the P2 and the Go missing support under the Denon DJ brand. A Denon DJ battery powered Serato DJ controller would be epic. Oh well…

Anyway, I best sit this out for a bit. Don’t @ me peeps

As you were…

Hahaha i hate those warnings, its cryptonite for someone who likes to talk too much:)

My new monitor has a huge battery in it too, i have a sort of wireless solution in the Numark Mixtrack Pro FX and my M1 macbook now, but the Macbook could run out of power pretty quickly.

One thing I’m absolutely sick of seeing. People saying “Pioneer are like the Apple of the DJ world”

Such a lazy and misinformed analogy, formed simply because both companies are expensive. The two companies are absolutely nothing like each other.

Unfortunately there will always be advocates, fanboys and trolls for all sides of the fence.

All our engine os gear have been getting good updates to the point where it almost feels like I’m using computer dvs software (w/5000M). Once file management on engine os gets to the laptop dj level then the desire for a laptop will fade increasingly.

For those who are electronic producer jocks that rely on 100 samples playing at the same time along with multitrack polysound synthesis and heavy processing for sound shaping will be the ones needing a laptop.

As of now pioneer standalone is basic and is a good enough baseline to be called standard. But being standard doesn’t mean it’s the best it just means it’s standard.

Same with serato. Most of the features Serato release in the past 7 years could already be done on Traktor. Serato just gave new names for the features and all of the sudden Serato released a new game changing industry standard feature.

I wonder what’s happening to Serato acquisition?

Fully agree, the part that annoys me most is when they say ‘Apple don’t really innovate, they just tick over using other people’s ideas and it works’ as the comparison between the two companies.

They’ve literally changed the way the whole world organise their lives and consume media, and not just once either, a few times. Then things like system on chip architecture for computers, turning the PC market on its head.

I just think it’s a shallow throwaway comment because Pioneer and Apple are both on the expensive side, with zero thoughts on how either company operates.

Decision delayed again until March now… at the very least we can thank the NZ commerce for doing their due diligence here.
