Looking to replace SC6000/M 6x6x5 micro switches -- which model?

I am finally experiencing some significant failure of some of the micro switches on my SC6000Ms and given that they are well-passed warranty, I was going to systematically replacing all of the micro switches on each deck.

After looking extensively, I’ve seen people mention the Panasonic EVQ-PAG05R being a good replacement, and I wanted to confirm this with anyone who has done similar.

  • Are these the most durable switches or are there better on the market?
  • Are all of the micro switches on the SC6000/M 6x6x5mm in size?

Thank you

You know about these?

Lovely. I will look for a USA distributor for these. Thank you <3

Just a FYI, I’ve ordered parts through the EU to Canada with no issues just incase you can’t find a US distributor.

Digikey. Disco’d but there’s alternatives on their site.

Thanks. I’ll email them about this, but if that is the per switch price, then that’s astronomically expensive.

Buy in bulk LOL

Don’t you MFG a 1000 DJ units a month? :joy:

Me? no way :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I’m just a nerd who likes music.

50.000 presses is ok, standard I would say.

Pre-inMusic Denon had on some controller models switches with only 10.000 presses and that lasts less than a year if used regulary so this one should be good for a few years.

100.000 would be nicer though… what are the specs of the original micorswitches? 6 x 6 x 5 mm but what activation force? 2.6N? Also, models in the thread here are both dual and single stem per side…

2.55N, 200.000 presses

Thank you. It looks like the devices use 2 pin, through hole mounted, rounded switches. Not too sure how much that matters. To be honest, i’ve not taken apart a deck yet.

Sharing this image of the SC6000 control PCB for anyone in the future who finds this thread and wants to look at the button layout.

Since you got that board out, replace the fader with an ALPS. Now you’ll have a 40 year operating board :joy:

No i haven’t. That photo came from a website.

What ALPS fader do you suggest? I mean, i might as well do that if I have the machine disassembled as you suggested.

Based on this and the switch djdragon posted, seems you then need:

Specs match with added bonus of this having 500.000 presses durability

Personally would do it only of there were previous issues with the fader that required cleaning but I’m certain you could find some Alps models that fit

Thank you for this.

The only question I have: Are rounded switches a requirement?

I would say no based on the PCB photo.

Also, the last Alps model does have “radial” in the description - I believe the pic might be a generic one

So i’m no electronics expert (hence the call for help), but it seems that Radial in this context has to do with where the leads are placed, according to this site.

Radial lead components, on the other hand, have leads coming out the same side. You might see this feature called out in electromechanical switches, primarily with through-hole tactile switches that feature radial lead packaging.

Yup, you are right.

There are plenty other Alps models, including round ones, to match it 100%

Can you let me know what the markings (writing) are on the sides of the fader?
