Library + add track to a deck on engine dj - FAIL

Hi y’all.

Massive fail and may need the help of you legends.

My library worked fine for years, I keep all my music on an external inc. engine the app

one day it just topped adding new tracks to the engine software, I did a fresh install but no tracks would add to the engine workflow tree.

I had to build a Serato library then import each playlist to engine from Serato.

now !!!, I can double tap a track and it will add to deck 1 and play without issue, however I can not drag a track into either deck 1 or 2 just says “FAILED TO LOAD TO DECK 1” or deck two what ever I choose.

This means I can’t load 2 decks in engined to build sets and see what tracks I want to play together. any ideas?

what do you mean by …

is engine dj (the desktop app) installed on an external drive?

share your computer specs and the spec of the external.

My Music library is installed on an external. every time I quit engine I see an engine library created in the external drive.

I also see an engine library back up in my Mac HD music drive, I guess its trying to read both but confusing itself

I use a macbook pro i5 from about 2021 only just started using an external to hold my music as my collection is too big for the computer

Thats perfectly normal.

In addition to the Engine Library folder is your Macs internal music folder, Engine also creates a reference library/folder on each drive that contains music files for Engine DJ app. Its the same with Serato.

Same here. Besides its also a hassle changing computers if all files are internal.

How is this external drive formatted? Is it ExFAT, FAT32 or APFS?

Mufasa, thanks again the drive is ExFat.

I have just wiped the install again for the 4th time and started again, tried to drag a file from the external into the engine library collection tree on the right hand side, the file name adds to the collection but no music comes across. att the moment the only thing that works is ti import every file as a playlist from Serato

its consuming my life lol

Have you given Engine DJ the necessary permissions in mac settings.

If that does not make a difference, shoot a video and share via a youtube link?

Is this normal Serato import method not working in Engine DJ?
