There needs to be a tighter feeling with the Jogs and the software, for example I noticed when I use my SC Live 4 with Serato DJ the jogs feel much tighter withe the software and the beat grid. Has anyone else notice this. I also use a Pioneer XDJ and the feeling of the jogs to software and beat grid is much better than in Engine DJ.
I don’t know how the factory tension setting feels on the SC Live 4, but on the Prime 2, I find it well balanced to provide a good feel while still providing good durability on backspin.
What is certain is that the tension setting is mechanically set by factory default on the hardware; it is not and cannot be controlled by software. It is therefore physically impossible for your jog wheels to feel tighter using Serato instead of standalone mode.
I have used many controllers over the years and the way the SCLive Jogs feels with Serato DJ and Engine DJ is so different, it comes down to how the software responds to the hardware, there is a similar problem with controllers and DJay Pro. Users often complain about this issue. When using with Serato it just feels more responsive . May be try with Serato and see.
Oh okay, because of the translation, I didn’t understand things that way.
You’re actually referring to the jog wheel’s responsiveness/sensitivity, not its hardness. In my previous post, I thought you were talking about a difference in hardness depending on whether you’re using Serato or Engine OS.
I understand better what you mean now. I don’t use Serato personally, but I do use Virtual DJ, so I understand what you mean.
The responsiveness/sensitivity can be set to different numeric values depending on the software manufacturer. Virtual DJ, for example, allows you to change this value by entering your own value (up to 4 digits after the decimal point) so you can get the setting you want.
I’m guessing Serato probably has a setting in its settings.
Under Engine OS in standalone mode, you’ll find a jog wheel sensitivity setting in the settings, but you can’t change the value. So you have a parameter called Jogwheel Sensitivity with four available presets called “low,” “mid,” “high,” and “very high,” or something like that.
But we don’t know the values set for these four presets.
Personally, I prefer to work in low; I find it’s what most closely resembles the feel of Pioneer equipment. For example, you have to make larger rotational movements when bending, but you get much more precision in return for accurate beatmatches.
The higher you go in the presets, the less large your movements will be on the jogwheel, but the more precision you’ll lose.
You can adjust the jog turn sensitivity in stand alone. Check some other settings, maybe you will find the one you need.
Thanks Guys found it, didn’t even realize that was there.
