Issue with Analyzing Tracks with Multibyte Characters in Engine DJ 4.1

[Follow-up] Solved the issue I asked about earlier — Engine DJ not analyzing tracks with Japanese characters :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hi everyone! Just wanted to give a quick update on the issue I posted about earlier — Engine DJ wasn’t analyzing tracks properly when the file or folder names contained Japanese (multibyte) characters.

Good news: it’s solved! :raising_hands: And it turns out… it wasn’t Engine DJ’s fault at all — the real issue was a Windows setting. Whoops

Big thanks to the helpful post here: :backhand_index_pointing_right: Engine DJ 4.2 - Failed to Load Track (Unspecified Error) It really pointed me in the right direction. Much appreciated!

:hammer_and_wrench: Fix (on Windows 11):

  1. Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region
  2. Click Administrative language settings
  3. Under Language for non-Unicode programs, click Change system locale…
  4. Set it to Japanese (Japan)
  5. Reboot your PC

After making this change, Engine DJ was finally able to analyze all tracks with Japanese characters just fine. Thanks again to everyone who chimed in — hope this helps someone else, too. Happy DJing! :headphone::sparkles:
