[Follow-up] Solved the issue I asked about earlier — Engine DJ not analyzing tracks with Japanese characters
Hi everyone! Just wanted to give a quick update on the issue I posted about earlier — Engine DJ wasn’t analyzing tracks properly when the file or folder names contained Japanese (multibyte) characters.
Good news: it’s solved!
And it turns out… it wasn’t Engine DJ’s fault at all — the real issue was a Windows setting. Whoops
Big thanks to the helpful post here:
Engine DJ 4.2 - Failed to Load Track (Unspecified Error)
It really pointed me in the right direction. Much appreciated!
Fix (on Windows 11):
- Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region
- Click Administrative language settings
- Under Language for non-Unicode programs, click Change system locale…
- Set it to Japanese (Japan)
- Reboot your PC
After making this change, Engine DJ was finally able to analyze all tracks with Japanese characters just fine.
Thanks again to everyone who chimed in — hope this helps someone else, too. Happy DJing!
