Is there a way to remove empty space at the beginning of a track?

I have a couple of tracks with 4 beats worth of empty space before they start and this means the 1st beat on the beat grid doesn’t seem to want to line up with the first point of the beat grid.

Is it possible to line the first beat up even with the long space at the beginning, I cannot figure out how?

Is it possible to remove the space using Engine Prime or do i have to do it in another program?

Audio editing software (i.e. Audacity) will help you there.

Where did the tracks come from? If you purchased them, I’d suggest feeding info back to the supplier.

ok thanks, a friend handed me a few tracks to get me started as only just got the prime and just working out how to use it.

Well you should really delete those and go buy some music, or use the streaming trials that Denon provide. They’re probably YouTube rips or something.

Yep I plan to, although with the streaming trials I find they take a long time to load each track (up to 30 seconds per load with Tidal) so better to buy the music and put it on he hard drive i think

30s sounds high. Is your internet slow? When I trialled it, tracks took maybe 2-3 seconds to load.

Hmm good to know, I will try it again and see, it was faster when i tried it in Beatport

  • Set a Hot Cue at the beginning of the track.

  • Then slide the beatgrid so it lines up.

  • Tap CUE at that point of the first beat.

  • Change your preferences to start from Hot cue (if you always set a hot cue at the start) - if there is not hot cue Engine OS will start at beginning

You will always encounter songs that has different things at the start, eg ad libs, silence etc will you be editing all of them in audacity? I would not.
