I am still farily new to Denon and Engine OS. I have an SC live 4 and the engine DJ software on a Windows 11 PC (gaming spec tower) and would like to know if Sync works both ways between the PC and Controller? By this I mean if I prep a lot of songs (Up to about 700 so far and about 1/4 through my collection to pick from) and put them on a card using sync manager, if I make changes on the Live 4, such as beat point corrections or tempo adjustments, will that feed back to Engine DJ when I sync more tracks or will Engine DJ revert all the changes on the SD card to the settings it has when I analysed the tracks?
If you adjust the beatgrid, or you add CUE/Loops to a track, you will be given the opportunity to “Sync to Engine DJ” on your next export. You want to bring in those changes first, before exporting anything else from your library to that drive. I also believe that if you add a track to another playlist, that can be synced to your main Engine DJ library, but I’m still not 100% sure on that.
So, as long as you “Sync to Engine DJ” before you “Sync to Disk”, things that you can change in Engine DJ OS will be imported.
The sync manager is bidirectional. And this can be a trap. The program does not give a choice of which changes to sync. If you make changes, for example, in the main collection on the computer and change something on the external drive through the device, then during syncing, the changes from the storage that you selected first when syncing will be saved. And other changes will simply be erased and you will not receive any notifications about this. I think this is strange at least because on the device you can only change the grid and points, and in the main collection all changes will be erased.
Thanks for the heads up. The way I am going to use this is basically put my starting tunes on now and add more as I get them. They will then stay on the card where I will set cue points and grid elements. From what you have said, I would be best to do my initial sync, then whenever I want to add new tracks, sync back from the card to pc to keep the cue etc and then add / analyse the new tracks in desktop app then sync them to the card?
One way to find out will be when I next add some new tunes which will be fairly soon when I buy the list I have got.
Yes, thats synced too, but it does this automatically in the background. Its also the reason why you should have your USB stick inserted when you delete stuff from playlists, otherwise it will get re-added the next time you insert this stick….
