šŸš€ Introducing Engine DJ 5.0 - On-Board Stems Rendering for the RANE SYSTEM ONE

Tested this out on my Prime Go +. After reexporting my USB, scrolling playlists is very noticeably faster which is huge since it was pretty slow before, now it feels fast enough.

UI style changes are largely whatever, some of the text and buttons feels a bit too small now but not unusable. New pull down UI is nice with the extra functions added.

I do wish there was a rework to the effects though, there’s so many effects yet not really anything usable imo. A reworked reverb effect would be massive. It just sounds so bad compared to the Rekordbox and VirtualDJ reverb.

This is just your personal opinion and not an objective fact.

I have a LOT of custom integrations built on top of my Engine DJ database. Can anyone from InMusic tell me whether the SQLite database scheme has changed and if so, in what way?

For now I am playing it safe by simply not upgrading haha.

I wonder why the size of the image file increased from 170 MB to 475 MB? Even for older devices without on-board STEM rendering. Bundling all the extra code and resources should not be necessary.

It must be because of these:

  • Pre‑rendered Demo Tracks for Stems - Demo tracks now ship with stems pre‑rendered on the following devices:
    • RANE SYSTEM ONE
    • Denon DJ PRIME 4+
    • Denon DJ PRIME GO+
    • Denon DJ SC LIVE 2 / SC LIVE 4
    • Numark Mixstream Pro+
    • Numark Mixstream Pro Go

The Prime Go firmware doesn’t include these and is still 185MB.

For me, this is the first—and therefore most important—feature of the update for the P4+ and all other models in the series. However, Continuous Play is acting a bit finicky right now; every few songs, there is a brief dropout right as the next track begins.

I frequently use this feature at events before things get underway.

The ā€œPlaylist to Zoneā€ function does not appear to be affected by this, so I have switched to using that instead, as the dropouts were quite distinctly audible.

…which is why they wrote ā€œimoā€ (in my oppinion).
