I have been trying to import around 150,000 tracks analyzed and exported from RB into the internal ssd of my Prime 4+, when it’s almost done with the analyzing the device reboots and asks me to do the import again and the same thing happens over and over. My entire library is around 3tb so I keep it on my external Qnap Thunderbolt NAS, all my music in rekordbox and iTunes can be accessed from the NAS. As some of you know, Engine Desktop doesn’t support network drives, so therefore I had to figure out a way to get all my RB playlists and folder structures into Engine Desktop. It’s was a ton of work but this is how I managed to do it, using RB, Engine Desktop and Lexicon DJ.
- Back up your RB library before you begin!
- Copy your music files from the NAS to your Prime 4+ internal ssd
- Move your RB master library to the internal ssd of your Prime 4+ and close RB
- Import all your RB music or playlists into lexicon DJ, you should now see your entire RB library or Playlists in Lexicon, close Lexicon.
- Eject your NAS
- Open Lexicon try to play any of your files and the exclamation sign should appear stating that the file is not found.
- Select all your music files, right click and select relocate, select the folder where your music is located in your prime 4+ internal ssd, Lexicon will look for the files in the new location and fix the paths for you. (RB auto relocate feature took forever, Lexicon did it in less than 5 mins)
- Check that the newly fixed files are working
- Export back the entire library or playlists to RB from Lexicon, close Lexicon
- In RB check that the files play correctly
- Export your RB library XML to the location of your choosing, close RB
- In Engine Desktop import the RB Library XML, now all your music and playlists should display and work correctly
- Import all the files to your Collection, let the analyzing complete
- Eject it and voila, insert the internal SSD back into your Prime 4+ with no crashes
- You can return your master RB file back to its original location (step 3) If any issues with your RB library happen you should have the backup file created in step 1
I still haven’t been able to figure out what causes the restart loop when the import is being done in the Prime 4+ (the same internal ssd used above was used to export from RB to the ssd the into the Prime 4+)
