Importing from Traktor to Engine DJ

Hi all, not sure if this is covered here before. But I’ve been having problems exporting from Traktor to Engine DJ until I’ve found a solution. (work around)

I’m using an Apple Mac. And Traktor basically is set up to import into it’s collection when you play a song. This could be any song from an alternative source and this is where I’ve discovered the issue I’ve came across…

I’ve been using Beatsource before I purchased the Prime 4+ on a second laptop. But when I’ve been importing the collection to Engine DJ via this laptop, to update latest acquired songs etc. I came across an issue where the import completed, but didn’t actually update any playlists or basically made any changes. No error messages and the playlists appeared empty. Also the list of songs was short. Like a lot short. 286 tracks showing in Traktor instead of the 14,000+ songs.

The Reason: Beatsource (or any streaming tracks) songs played in Traktor was automatically being added to the collection - Which in turn stops the collection from being updated because the file isn’t available to verify. Hence why Playlists appeared empty.

Solution: Manually trailing through the collection and removing any and all Beatsource references and retried import of collection which completed successfully.

There was no errors generated during import so this may confuse a lot of regular and new users alike - Is there any way this can be flagged for future Engine DJ updates so to either “skip” files sourced from streaming services or at least produce an error message to this effect as none shows up in Engine DJ and can cause massive confusion as a result.

I don’t know if this would be the same for other applications (Serato, etc)

Just thought I’d share this information and hope it helps a few folks out there. (if not already discovered!)

I imagine that would be a problem with importing libraries from anywhere, if they contain streamed tracks (and libraries now typically do) - because Engine DJ desktop software has no integration with any streaming services. Not even the ones that are available on the Engine compatible hardware.

It seems we’ve been asking forever, for Denon DJ to add the streaming services to the desktop software (there’s a feature request for sure), but here we are years after they were integrated to the hardware and…….nothing.

Hi, that’s my topic! I have just exported my Traktor 4 collection to Engine DJ with Lexicon incl beatgrids, cue points & playlists. The Traktor stems have gone, of course.

Hi there.

Sorry. My issue was about moving music from Traktor to Engine DJ for preparation to transfer to the Denon controller and how Engine DJ is not producing any errors or alerts and failing to update correctly in Engine (*turns out it was because of streaming tracks being added to the collection folder in Traktor - This causes an issue whereby the collection fails to update and the playlists created in Engine DJ are empty instead of providing track data that you would have been created inside of Traktor)

Hope this helps clarify my initial post.
