I bought my engine prime 4 five months ago. Initially the engine software was able to transfer over 400 of my i tunes songs. Now when I hit the ‘Update Library’ key, it looks as though it goes through the process, but none of the new i tunes songs pass over to engine. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so could you please tell me how to rectify it?
Are these new songs actual purchases (you paid for each one separately), or are they rented Apple Music downloads? You can’t use Apple Music downloads on anything other than Apple.
If they’re purchases then maybe you could set up a Smart Playlist called (e.g.) New Songs to separate out the songs from those already in Engine Prime, which you could then import manually by drag & drop.
Hello thanks for the quick reply. The songs I am trying to transfer are definitely purchased and downloaded to my laptop. In the advanced settings section within i tunes, the share library xml dialog box is also ticked. I tried creating a new playlist with 8 purchased songs and dragging and dropping but still to no avail.
The songs are in a format supported by Engine Prime and the Prime hardware?
Please read the manual (pdf) or look at the videos.
Once the itune library update is done, you have to select your playlist/album… right-click on it and select « add to collection » or into crates or into playlists in order to use them in Engine.
This integration needs work. You can do a one time dump in Engine but there is not the capability to update. Any update on that?
Yeah, that’s a pretty common issue with Engine Prime lately. Sometimes it stops syncing new iTunes tracks if the library path or XML file changes. Try re-linking your iTunes library in Engine settings or re-exporting the iTunes XML file that usually fixes it.
I tried the updating of the XML and even did it with the supervision of a tech from In-Music with no success. After several sessions we notice that the playlist don’t get updated unless I physically remove them from engine and re-drop them from the I-tunes list. As you can imagine this is time consuming, tedious and subject to mistakes.
My latest attempt has been to Organize my I-tunes library in folders and then inside the playlist. This way I just do this process to one huge folder. For now it stems to have done the trick. I am concern of the impact of doing this by doubling up on content. So far it seems to be working. I’ll let you know if I run into any issues. Moving and updating over 30,000 files is always challenging.
I still haven’t found a way to effectively work around creating a just in time stems access and skip thru the soundwave without losing the tempo and accurately jump to the right bar. There is soo much to do to make Engine DJ a reliable tool. But I believe there is a lot of potential.
