ok here is my problem… i got a new MacBook… when I brought everything over from my old mac my engine prime software has many tracks but most are in red saying no file…
I have an internal hard drive on my prime 4 with all my music on it… i want to update my. computer prime with all that I have on my int SSD drive…
i thought it would be simple just do the reverse how you load tracks on the prime 4… but when I do that nothing happens… when I go to the sync manager and hit the sync to engine dj under my SSD. nothing happens…
so how can I get the music from my prime 4 back into my prime engine software
Djliquidice. i used the migration asst… but. my on my new computer has all corrupted music files most are red… should I delete the engine program from my comp and reinstall and try to move it again from my prime 4.
no on the back up only whats on my SSD in my prime 4 and my time machine. but what is on my time machine is what is in the new engine now…
Your files are likely not “corrupt”. @STU-C and @djliquidice are right, this is almost certainly due to the files not being in the same location that Engine originally referenced. Look at the (Path) Directory column (edit: oops, I originally stated Path column but that is the name of the column in the track table of m.db, it shows as Directory in Engine Desktop) and compare to where those files are now.
but is there any way to get my music from my prime 4 to engine. or onto my computer in a file that way I can reroute engine to that file… i don’t know if I have all those tracks in on folder…
thanks… i was always under the impression that prime 4 and engine could talk back and forth… like if I do edits on the prime 4 I could up date the engine
so is there any way to get tracks in my prime 4 to save to a computer or a thumb drive… i find it hard to believe that once they are on there there is no getting them off or out…
You can find files on your thumb drive and copy and paste it back on your computer, but you should copy then to the correct folders.
If you move it back to the wrong folders, you should relocate then after
Sync completely reorganizes your files on the destination drive in folders by artist and album. That’s why you want to try to keep those files as they were on you desk/laptop unless you don’t care. I guess you would lose your cues and loops too.
If you look at those drives you should see the files in a folder. You could copy them but it doesn’t solve the problem of Engine desktop finding them.
Ok, as a test I renamed my existing [user id]\Music\Engine Library\ to \Engine Libraryxxx.
Then copied the \Engine Library folder on an SSD drive created via sync to [user id]\Music. It contains \Engine Library\Database2\ and \Engine Library\Music\ folders (with all the music).
The good news is this opens on Engine DJ. There are no red tracks and all the beatgrids, cues and loops are there. Of course, if you don’t sync your complete library you will be missing those parts. Plus, as stated previously, the music is organized by sync in folders by artist\label.
To get my original library back I’m deleting \Engine Library and renaming \Engine Libraryxxx\ back.
Wow, you have just shown me how to sort mine out, thanks that’s amazing, I seriously thought I had done something wrong months ago when I got my new Mac. Respect
