I’ve installed rekordbox on my PC and analyzed my entire collection (on external HD). When I boot prime go with that usb drive connected, it detects the rekordbox collection (library?) and asks if i want to load it. Yes please. Ok so now I navigate to my tracks expecting to see the metadata which I created in rekordbox but every track just loads/analyzes like it’s never been seen before, so I’m not seeing my hotcues or beatgrid from rekordbox. What am I missing? Any suggestions?
It only analyses the track for the waveform, all other data is read from the file.
As answered above, if you see the playlists, BPM and key info, it means Engine OS has done its best to import the collection.
Waveforms and beatgrids - will always have to be done on the fly.
As for the hot cues/saved cue points, I think there should be some sort of importing happening here. Someone else might be able to chime in on how that happens.
If you don’t see the playlists, it might mean you need to export the collection to a drive. Best bet would be to export the collection as XML in Rekordbox and import it into Engine OS. Then sync to your HDD, if you have enough space on it. You could potentially create a second partition on that drive (make it exFAT format), which could be the dedicated engine library.
OK, so any beatgrid editing I do in rekordbox won’t translate over to the prime. My vision was to use rekordbox to manage my music collection, so that in the event of needing to produce a rekordbox USB, when I’m booked to play for 10,000 fans at the superclub, I’d be ready to go. Maybe this is making less sense than I hoped and I should just admit defeat and stay “in brand”, using engine.
I could be wrong on the beatgrids when done as an import/update in Engine DJ. It might just work. But on the unit I’m less sure.
My advice would be to use both, Engine for your Inmusic gear and RB for when you need to use Pioneer. I have 3 pieces of software running concurrently and once you get over the initial data build its easy to keep track of, just mirror everything across the 3 apps.
