Its always worth a shot buying these things though. Ive got a cheap 8" sub for my setup, just over £100 it cost me.
The repair would be to the driver rather than the electronics, so either a replacement chassis speaker or to have it reconed. If it’s bottomed out, then the internal part with the wire coil that moves in & out has been damaged and it’s scraping against the sides.
The driver (according to Google) is a HiVi SP10
