hi. think my units bricked (going into the update motor 04.04 loop)… but want to try and force install firmware again. can I force update somehow? search brought an old post up where this was mentioned… how can I get to mode in #3?:
Please check some other topics, there may be correct sequence of events putting the unit in update mode(first unplug all usb cables, usb storage, ssd storage, then switch to update mode then connect to PC, then turn on the PC, etc)
Don’t waste your time trying various manipulations, this error message is linked to a hardware fault. There is nothing you can do to fix it and no update will correct anything. Contact your dealer if your player is still under warranty or a Denon authorised repairer if it is no longer the case to have your unit repaired.
thanks… yeh was able to re-update to 4.0 – same looping issue. tried 3.0, same. back to 4.0, same. gutted.
its only 18 months old and was honestly sparingly used, still practically mint. doesn’t matter as out of warranty as read thats 12 months.
hope there’s a resolution bc my Prime-Go became faulty 3-4months ago and I was told by Denon that due to it out of warranty they can’t help and there’s NO authorised repairers in Australia they can recommend either!?!?! (this is what they said to me verbatim)’
It appears that this hardware failure has a strong tendency to occur when the units are used in flight cases as it obstructs the vents allowing the devices to be cooled properly and causes overheating inside the units.
Remember to take the units out of their flight cases when using them
nah, they’ve never left the studio and are always ventilated. tbh, they’re sparingly used as mostly mess w/ vinyl at home. the only thing I can think of is I accidentally left them on last night at 1am. switched them off this morning around 9am. went to turn them on later tonight to play with and couldn’t use 1 of the players, this issue… other one is fine. This one has an SSD installed… would removing it make a difference?
Very interesting, exactly the same thing happened to me two years ago, I left one of my sc6000M players on overnight and had the same problem when I found it the next morning
I don’t think removing the SSD makes any difference.
You can always remove it and try because you will have to remove it to return the device for warranty anyway.
The most plausible hypothesis is that this failure occurs following overheating of the unit which causes some soldering to loosen on a chip on the motherboard. Either because the unit has been left on for a long time or used in an unventilated space.
It also seems that it is mainly units that were manufactured during the covid period that are sensitive to this problem. A batch manufactured at this period undoubtedly had more fragile welds at high temperatures.
Here in Europe the legal warranty is two years and even some stores in Germany offer a 3-year warranty at no extra cost.
Mine was still covered by warranty and was replaced with a new unit. It took a little over a month from the time the faulty unit was sent under warranty to the time I received the new unit.
Goodness.
My SC5000 also bricked out after updating to 4.0.0, I did make a post about it.
This happened after leaving the unit on while ai went for lunch….
However I have a 3 year warranty from Music Store Gmb, And Im sending it back for them to fix or repair…
Strange but true…
I Also had a beta warning pop up lol
