Hi All, My collection contains a big number of tracks. Recently, i reorganized those in the file system (PC). Now, i am stuck with a few unrecognizable items across the whole collection. Is there a way to filter for those? Scrolling through the whoe collection is a nightmare. BTW, for me the auto-relocate doesn’t work at all. Thanks in advance. Nils
Hi @Nils_Stump ! Welcome to the forum.
Auto-relocate has seemed to have gotten an upgrade a few revisions ago. I’m using 5.0, what version are you using at this time?
Of the songs you relocated, are those songs located on the same physical volume?
I am using 5.1.0. on PC. All files are in the “Music” folder on the main Windows drive organized in Subfolders.
And when you right click any file in the main collection and choose auto relocate, that doesn’t fix the issue?
Nope, doesn’t. File is located in a subfolder of c:\users\myUser\music\archive…
I use a third party app named engine prime cleaner. It does scannyour collection and delete the red ones! The app is from atgr production if i’m remember well
Where do you get that??
Engine Prime Cleaner was offered by @MixMasterG as a download almost a decade ago. It’s not available now. Engine DJ has changed very much since then, so even if you found a copy you wouldn’t want to use it.
Those features may be available in MixMasterG’s DJ Conversion Utility (Mac only). That is for purchase on the ATGR.nl site.
LexiconDJ will allow you to filter all of your missing tracks and help relocate them. There are three versions, Free, Essential and Ultimate. I know the Free version won’t do it. I have Ultimate and it will.
Some of the other library management software like Mixo might also do that.
BTW- I asked “AI” for tricks and it gave flat out bogus advice.
Be sure to open the “Directory” column in your Engine DJ library browser. It may give you a clue as to what folders are not being located.
There are quite a few discussions and feature requests on this topic. Check this out with 31 votes:

I use engine prime cleaner until now! It works perfectly for my purpose : remove (not relocate) all red tracks at once
So then, this is good to know. It’s still helpful for those who want to clean out “missing“ tracks in the database.
If it generates a list of the tracks, without removing them from the database, that would help people find which tracks are not being found.
Ok, so if you have a Mac, I did some back and forth with AI and got this bash script to list missing files sorted by path to a desktop file “missing_tracks.txt”.
bash
sqlite3 "/Users/$(whoami)/Music/Engine Library/Database2/m.db" "SELECT '/Users/$(whoami)/Music/Engine Library/' || path FROM track WHERE path IS NOT NULL AND path != '';" | while read -r f; do p=$(echo "$f" | sed 's|/Engine Library/\.\./|/|g'); [ ! -f "$p" ] && echo "$p"; done | sort > ~/Desktop/missing_tracks.txt
Use code with caution. Copy the two lines, open Terminal and past the block in there. I moved some files around it, worked for me. Others with computer savvy, if it doesn’t work right for you, please step in.
Another version that runs in zsh. I saved it as EngineDJ_MissingFiles.zsh and just drop it on Terminal when I want to run it.
sqlite3 "/Users/$(whoami)/Music/Engine Library/Database2/m.db" "SELECT REPLACE('/Users/$(whoami)/Music/Engine Library/' || path, '/Engine Library/../', '/') FROM track WHERE path IS NOT NULL AND path != '';" | while read -r p; do [ ! -f "$p" ] && echo "$p"; done | sort > ~/Desktop/missing_tracks.txt
EDIT: all of my music is on the local drive, so I’m not sure if the substitution works correctly, if your library is stored on a connected drive.
