I’ve been using the X1850 with 2 SC6000s since they were first released.
And honestly, they have come a long way since my purchase with software updates.
The X1850 is a solid mixer, but the effects are just awful!
I’m an open source DJ mostly playing clubs, bars, and doing private functions.
I would really like to see a good echo out function from Dennon in an update, rather than buying a new mixer
True - there are separate effects boxes out there, a few hundred bucks each as they absolutely specialise specifically in effects.
There are several echo-out style effects possible from the x18 range of mixers, from the simple to operate channel “color” (wash , dub, - next to the noise and gate buttons) and then there’s the beat fx echo in the effects bank section with the two mini screens.
Give yourself some off-air time to really really dive deep into the beat fx bank on the x1850 and you’ll be rewarded with some really great sounding and really useable echo fx (just don’t use them 30 times a night … it’s gets painful to the audience lol )
Remember too, you’ve got the touch screen fx on the SC6000s , which offer latching options for longer fx too
What’s an open source DJ? Is this the same as “Open Format”? I ask because the term “Open Source” generally refers to software in which its source code is open (Open Source) for anyone to read, and sometimes copy + modify for their liking.
“The effects are simply terrible!”
Do you mean "BPM effects?
I disagree. Certainly not all effects from the main FX unit are bad.
The effects set on the X1850ke includes unique and great effects such as BeatBreaker, Hall Echo, AutoGate…)
In addition, on the X1850ke you have the opportunity to adjust the sound of the effect through several available tools. (frequency applied to the effect, length of feedback, etc.
Or as an “EchoOut” you can use the WashOut sweep fx.
If even these options are not enough for you, you can connect an external effects unit to the audio path via Send/Return.
Apropos: Why you dont use WashOut sweep FX? This FX works and sounds good. This effect is like Echo Out, but sounds even better.
