Exporting / converting playlists / cuepoints / bpm / key and the rest from EngineDJ to Recordbox - is there an easy way to do this

Hello everyone, I can’t find the answer in this community. I love my Prime 4+, but since Engine DJ can read USB sticks that are formatted as RecordBox (Pioneer/Alpha Theta). Could Denon build in a feature to make it work the other way around.

I see some export to csv options in Engine DJ and some import options in the free version RecordBox. I don’t mind.buying additional software to do.this but I don’t want a subscription service for doing this (like Mixo, DJCU (also I don’t have a Mac) or one of the other programs).

Anyway, Denon, could you make a “one-button-conversion-thingie” in engine dj.

And Fellow DJ’s: how do you all deal with this?

Most clubs have Alpha Theta’s and I’d like to just bring my USB stick and some headphones to a gig and not drag around my precious controller everytime.

Could you help me out with this?

HI, there’s no way InMusic are going to spend their time creating a tool for people to migrate their library to another system, thats beyond all reasonable logic and business sense.

You are free to purchase something like Lexicon if you wish to do it yourself.

Hello Stu-C, thank you for the reply.

I did not know about Lexicon, did not pop up in my search results. Unfortunately it’s another (pretty expensive) subscription service, I will try it out but I’ll keep on looking for another permanent solution.

I personally just ensure all my music libraries across the various software are a mirror of each other, and in the same format as how i store my music library on my computer, that way i can switch between different software and all my music will be in the same place. The caveat to this is i dont make use of cue points, stored loops etc so im not relying on any of that, meaning im not too concerned if the info isnt there when i load a track, ill add anything i need as i go along.

That’s a very usefull tip. I’m going to do that for now. I’ll just add cue points and loops on the fly (when I to play a 4deck set will just take my controller with me).

Thank you so much, this has been very helpfull. Have a good day.

Ok, topic closed for now.

I’m going to do the same thing as a In always did and that is copy my folder structure that is on my computers hard drive to Rekordbox, drag in all the music files and analyse it thru record box.

I’ve been djing since 1993 and started using controllers about 10 years ago. Started with Traktor and Mixxx (time code vinyl), after that Serato (Roland DJ 808.contoller) and Engine DJ (Denon Prime 4+) now.

So as Stu-C mentioned, I also don’t really need cue points, BPM or keys to play a set, I can do everything.on the fly. But I can do much more if I have my home setup with me (4 deck sets, looping).

Anyway, I hope all these manufacturers will come to see the benefits of cooperation in stead of competition and that this whole metadata thing will become easier to transfer. (I know, I’m a hippy, for now I will just adapt, rescan everyting and add cuepoints and loops everyting on the fly). Maybe it will even improve my sets.

I 100% agree with you on that point, a universal DB format would be a game changer for the DJ industry.
