Hi,
I’m considering getting a couple of these:
Does anyone have any experience with these, or the quality in general from U’King?
Best regards Engell
Hi,

Allow me to begin by saying I’m no lighting expert but I have done research and installed lights that seem to have been made from a similar “super OEM” and are sold across multiple channels under multiple brands.
I went to the U’king website and found that they tend to sell items that look nearly identical to what others sell and this practice is extremely common from some asian countries.
While i’ve never purchased anything from U’King directly, they do sell the following item…
… which looks nearly identical to what is on amazon…
… which is nearly identical to what’s on eBay for half the price.
I got mine from amazon.
These lights seem to be to be lower-quality economy-line products that do a good enough job, though I wonder about the longevity of their design. Driving the head is a aluminum toothed gear that has a belt around it and the lights that I own are littered with rubber bits because of the design of the lights. They are also noisy due to the fans spinning at high RPM, not moving much air and being of the lowest quality type of motors.
You can expect light plastics that can easily be cracked/broken. I’ve had a few issues where some of the screws came undone by themselves and the lights went flying off into the wild.
The electronics will also likely be of the lowest quality as demonstrated below. I should not be able to power LEDs by moving these other lights. It seems that there is no protection circuitry involved (costs more) to prevent what i show below.
The pros: For my home setup, they are incredible value, though I would not use them in a professional setting (club, wedding, etc…). I’ve had my two sets of lights for well over a year now and they mostly run w/out problems.
Using google image search…
… i found that these items are sold on:
Hope all of this helps =)
Definitely a generic super OEM kinda brand.
I got two cheap 7 x 10w LED moving heads around three years ago to learn programming SoundSwitch and they work great. They were UKing and new from EBay.
They work fine with no issues. They can be found under a thousand other brands and these were the cheapest at £52 for TWO! They probably marked them up wrong and still honoured it. I should have taken all four at that price.
All-in-all they aren’t bad for little money. Don’t expect the world from them but if the price is right then that’s okay.
OEM yes, super, not really, they look like stage light museum pieces…
hmm…
I’ve always had good experiences with the people at U-King. I recommend writing to them there are always deals and support.
Note the times China central!!! So Europe in the morning.
The quality is tremendous for the price.
it is important for us SW users that our devices are supported and they are. if necessary, there is the DMX editor with which we can make everything work. Look for RK in the public area, my profiles are running, tested by myself. For special questions just ask.
I bought 10 moving head LEDs from U’King, and 2 have gone down, I’d say maybe between 59 and 100 hours use. Cheap enough, but wouldn’t buy for longevity.
Thank you for all your responses Very appreciated.
Bonjour Engell.
