Engine OS 4.3.1 - tempo sync bug

I’m using Engine OS 4.3.1 on a Prime 4+ with sync mode “tempo”, and have been having strange issues with BPM being set incorrectly when first pressing play. It seems to be setting the BPM to the value that the most recently played song was using, even across power cycles.

To reproduce:

  • Play a song on the right deck with a high tempo & tempo sync on (say, 174bpm)
  • Reboot the device
  • Load a song on the left deck with a lower tempo (say, 145bpm), turn on tempo sync (BPM counter goes green, still at 145bpm)
  • Press play on the left deck
  • Tempo instantly jumps to the previous value (in this case, 174bpm)

This is quite inconvenient when starting a new set/session.

I am experiencing similar problems. I came to the solution to ALWAYS have all sync functionality OFF. Only when I consciously want it , I put sync on temporarily. I must say that much of my music does not have proper beatgrids - 70s and 80s mostly alre difficult to beatgrid. I do not bother any longer - I use manual mixing without auto-sync in these cases. Works well for weddings - maybe not so in clubs.

Oh that sounds painful. The only reason I could see this happening is if your tempo faders aren’t centered when you load the track after power cycle, but (no disrespect) I imagine you’ve already checked this and made the post knowing your tempo faders were centered.

Interested to see how this is resolved. Best of luck.
