Engine LAG on Prime4

Has anyone else have a serious random lag when loading tracks? Every few tracks I load instead of loading instantly the arrow flashes up to 30 sec before it loads. Sometime it even says failed to load in given time.

I notice other lags in the software where I have to wait to do something.

Nobody else has LAG ?? I think I bought a melon. Sometimes it takes 30 sec to load a track or it just doesn’t load at all?? I feel Denon has lots of bugs…

You need to mention firmware version, type of drive you’re storing music on, how big is your library? what version your database is, have you rebuilt your drive since updating to the new database?

As much info as possible so people can offer suggestions to help.

Im Using the second latest Firmware 3.0.1 I am only putting a few playlists at a time on random USB sticks. 32 gig ones 2 gigs it doesn’t matter.

Does it not lag at all for most people? Should be instant…

Those are very small USB sticks…like, pre usb3.0 sticks.

So that might be my problem? I need USB 3.0 sticks?? Im not sure what they are, but its just audio…

Id suggest having an internal SSD for the Prime 4, I use a WD Blue SSD with no performance issues. It syncs faster and performs much better than a USB drive, and it’s much cheaper than comparable sized USB drives.

IS there any way to transfer your playlists from a USB to the Drive on the P4?

What about SD cards? I have lots of those

Depends on the type of SD, you would need to use a laptop to do that ideally, are you using the Engine desktop app and sync manager to organise your music for these drives?

You can connect the laptop to the Prime 4, put it in computer mode then sync to the internal drive. It’s all in the manual how to sync an internal drive.

Im Using a Desktop not laptop that is the problem and the decks are downstairs. Ill Figure something out

Ahhh ok the explains it, I think a USB 3.0 drive, formatted as Exfat then sync all your music to it from the Engine desktop. Finally plug it into the USB3.0 slot on the Prime 4 (I think it’s the one on the back but best to confirm) and it should perform better.

Oh and make sure your desktop version and hardware firmware are the same builds, in this case 3.1 is the latest for both.

Got a brand new USB 256 gigs, did a whole set with no issues
