Engine DJ v2.0 Now Available - Engine Lighting, Ableton Link, New Database, Plus More!

Ableton Link would be technically possible on Pro-DJ Link via ethernet for the CDJ decks. That’s how Beat-Link-Trigger works. But, Pioneer will NEVER implement this. It would cut into DJS-1000 sales. That’s what is so revolutionary about Engine OS having this functionality. Denon didn’t take the greedy approach and offered the ability to use 3rd party software/hardware to tempo-lock with the players without the need for proprietary Denon DJ branded hardware.

The cdj3000 has a lot of power under the hood and it does send audio over it’s network for previewing to their mixer.

Whatever pio has up their sleeves we know it ain’t gonna be cheap but it’ll probably be good though.

However this update (which I got nothing I hoped for) is an actual game changer. Wifi on the prime series was a good call from Denon.

And you are not only limited to use hardware. Every DAW that supports ableton link you can also use to do remixes on the fly. Have fun.

You two are so predictable it’s become comical.

I knew soon as I posted the fact Link is supported by Pioneer already, you would come back with the RB only argument. If you knew that already, then why even mention you’re searching the Pio’ Forums for users to add Ableton?

Of course Ableton is a great option to add, but if you’re expecting me to praise the Philips Hue lighting then no far from it. It’s just an overpriced gimmick for Bedroom DJ’s and is not suitable for real Pro DJ use. Don’t get me wrong though as lighting has a place with DJ’in but these over-priced Philips lights built for home use I think not.

Loving the new OS but one thing I’ve not been able to do it add to a playlist whilst it’s playing.

What I’d like to do is set a playlist away and add to while it is ongoing

Is this possible?

Hello! Operating system 2 was wonderfully good. All my requests were fulfilled by the software developers. The microphone can finally be connected to the headset. With this, Prime 4 became the best console in the world. Thank you for the work of the developers. It is great! Georg :hungary: :+1: :hugs:

I was one of the guys requesting more track rows for the 7" devices Prime Go, 2 and SC5000. Very pleased this got implemented, together with the major overhaul of the entire database - we all know that this wasn’t an easy task, so kudos for that. Ableton Link and Engine Lighting are nice, huge extras. The cleaned up menus and unified Playlists are also welcomed.

I have sold my trusty old DDJ-SX for a Roland DJ-808 recently, still hoping for the Prime 2 getting Serato support one day, as I still need it for my weddings, but I will continue following the progress of Engine Dj with great interest. Keep up the great work, Denon. It is a delight to witness how you stir up the entire market. I see lot of synergy potential within the entire InMusic brand.

Nice buy! Avoid updating to the latest CDJ3000 FW as it have a few bugs that leads to screen freeze and pitch jumping

Spent a fair few hours playing since the update and an hour or so into mixing tonight I noticed the way the keys were ordered before have changed. Never really had a problem with the ordering before hand, but the new way of ordering them (1 to 12) is much more sensible, tbh.

Out of curiosity. What was the reasoning behing the old way? (starting/ending at 7/8, I think?)

I’ve never really bothered with being strict when it comes to mixing in key, so it’s not something I questioned too much.

Had the update 5 days, had a gig sat nite, playlists disappearing then reappearing, playlists not loading properly, when using the roll function on the performance pads it stays engaged for about 3 seconds after releasing it. Very nearly ruined my gig. Went back to 1.6.2 2day. Worst update yet, needs some work done! Did u not bother to beta test it??
