I took a look at the pioneer forum to see if anyone is pushing them to add things like abelton link and stuff.
Give it a day or two - lol
Why should they push for anything they already reached the peak of just being standard.
^^ Cough cough ^^
and … https://rekordbox.com/en/support/faq/ableton-link/
Try to keep up eh, it’s been available for a while.
Available through rb software only no doubt.
You gotta admit just the abelton link and lighting alone were pretty good additions. And why keep up with the times when you can be ahead of it.
Did you get your cdj3000’s yet btw?
Great work Denon. Loving the new interface on my prime go. Excited about the lighting bit too for my live streams. What lighting package does anyone suggest for live streaming. Nothing too over the top. Ideas please…. Thank you.
Only with a laptop / rekordbox software - not via the player/mixer own in-built hardware.
Also my comment of “give it a day or two” related to when the pio users might catch on to Denons incredibly huge combined release software and firmware yesterday, and when the pio users might start asking pio “why not for us?” , “Why not our players?” , “when do we get ….?”
Try to keep up.
Why would they request it? It’s not technically possible, I don’t get it
I think the only feels they would have is admiration and knowing what’s possible….they will need an entire new product line to bring in these features.
Denon DJ is in a special space currently and hopefully gain so much ground and continue to innovate.
Whilst throwing shades at the other side, it’s also important to know that competition brings out the best innovations. If pioneer decides to close shop today and all their products cease to exist, what do think will happen here.
I for one wish Pioneer continues to be competitive so we can have great stuff like Engine DJ 2.0
It’s not stopped anyone in the past, requesting things which were beyond the hardware confines.
No fam. We talking streaming, lighting, dual play playback. That is not just firmware business. Perhaps I’m just naive
Anyways Engine DJ 2.0 is pure fire
-
Engine DJ is quite snappy
-
Scrolling though a 75k library on the desktop app is a breeze
-
Thank goodness for no more playlist scanning every time one changes crates or views, this was pretty annoying in the past
-
Database is now leaner as well, Fat32 users rejoice
Mojaxx in his video showed a clip where streaming tracks and usb tracks can be in one played list. How do I get that to work as I can only see my usb tracks. Also do I need to buy a Philips hue bridge to get my lights set up? What kit do I need to start using lighting with Phillips Hue? Thanks peeps
Hey there guys. I did not have a good time with this update. I already commented under the Denon DJ youtube video on how to get philips hue working with 2.0 but did not get any answer there yet. Let me copy and paste my experiences:
The whole release is the biggest bug fest ever for me. First off, when trying to log in to my Denon DJ account I get a message, that my account has been temporarily deactivated. Had to get myself a new account first to download the 2.0 firmware. Downloaded the USB version and after updating my SC5000 (which was at 1.6.2.) it was at… well… it was still at 1.6.2. No matter what I tried, no matter if using the web option or the USB option. Okay then… Let’s try it via Mac and the .dmg Hmmm this seems to work now, although in the preferences it still suggests that there is a firmware update available. But clearly it is 2.0 now. The device info tells me so and also the new menus make it clear. So i really wanna try linking with my hue lights. I add my bridge, it states “bridge connected” and I can even see all my entertainment zones and contained lights. But when tapping on any of the lights non of them flash or indicate any connection with my player. In the upper right corner it always says “connecting”… Hmm what now? Maybe try to do the suggested firmware update from the players menu anyways? After doing so I am back at 1.6.2 lol Maybe there is some truth to the saying “never play on patch day” Looking forward to getting some infos from you dear Denon DJ team! And also please tell me what happened to my account?!
My main concerns now are: Why is the update procedure so buggy for me? No one else on here seems to have such problems and how do I get the Hue integration to work? That’s pretty much the one feature I upgraded for in the first place.
I hope to hear from you guys
Cheers!
I’m not sure about the other update methods but there was a comment from Denon DJ mentioning that the preferences firmware updates will go live around 24 hours later. Apparently it is to make sure they can pull it if there was any major reports of issues. It is much easier to issue a patch for the few that’s downloaded it by seeking it out rather than it getting pushed to all of the Prime players at once.
Interesting how the other update methods wouldn’t work though. I’ve not seen any other updating problems via firmware but I’ll keep my eye out.
Do you happen to own any Hue lights and could you confirm the feature is working for you?
Not going live with the OTA update makes total sense but not working via thumbdrive and also suggesting that there is a newer version in the preferences which then goes back to 1.6.2 is just weird…
That does seem strange. If you update to 2.0 on the Engine DJ desktop software, that should stop any messages popping up that there is an update. I think it puts a flag in the USB stick to say there is an update so the next time you put music on the stick, it may not say there is a different version. Just a guess though.
I’m away from my Hue lights at the moment so I can’t test them but I’ve seen other reports of them working so I’m unsure.
In the Engine Lighting preferences setup, maybe the “start stop” switch can be toggled to see if that helps? I’ll check mine out when I get back in a few days.
My 2cents:
- OTA is not released yet, so still at 1.6.2. Web update will possibly revert you back to this if you choose update.
- When updating to 2.0 via USB, make sure it’s a good drive. I’ve seen and had seemingly okay drives that didn’t update.
- I’ve seen the “update available” on my SC5000 when testing as well, so bug is specific to this device type and reported to devs.
- Engine Lighting is being worked on to address issues some experience (and most don’t). Be sure to update the X18x0 mixer as well.
This is how I updated my players; Open webpage. Go to downloads. Select which media player I use. That took me to a new webpage where I selected to download an update I could throw onto a USB. Done so, and inserted it into my players. Selected reboot from the menus and selected USB/SD and it updated all 3 perfectly with no issues.
I’ve also had a USB stick not play ball with an update so that’s also a good shout. Make sure it’s a good quality stick.
It’s the same Sandisk SD card I have always been using to update the players but anyways, the update is the problem anymore. I just wanna get those lights working with my SC5000 Playing at a house party next week and the hue integration would come in so handy for that.
And the thing is I can see all the lights inside the entertainment area that I chose but then I can’t get any reaction from the lights. I tried creating different entertainment zones. Both for music and for movies and gaming. Nothing…When I use for example the Philips sync app for MacOS to sync the Hue lights with movies, that works just fine.
