EDIT: The details of the solution are in my last post with a screenshot.
Hello!
I facing an issue with my Motu M4 interface and Engine DJ 5.0.0 (running on MacOS 15.7.1). This interface has 4 output channels. I’m using 1-2 for playback, channels 3-4 are not in use currently.
Previewing a track in Engine DJ defaults to channels 3-4 which seemingly I cannot change.
I tried using CH 3-4 for playback, but these are fixed level outputs, so I’m currently stuck to loading tracks into the player.
Is there something I’m missing? I’d appreciate any input or suggestion on this topic. Thanks!
Well, Engine DJ is, technically not a peformance software, just a prepping software/database, so there’s no need to have a “cue” or headphone out separate from the main out.
Thank you for your input! That is what is I’d like to achieve: to have both signals playing from the same output (in my case CH 1-2). I’m familiar with the concept of performance/preparation software; what I don’t understand is the fact that it routes a separate cue channel for preview when there is no performance mode. I chose to tag it as a bug, because I cannot think of a purpose behind this feature. But maybe I’m missing something?
This was never an issue when I had a two channel interface, but I need the four inputs for different purposes.
Think you need to play a bit with your Motu ch assignment in the macos audio devices or if Motu has it’s own driver then there
Thanks for chiming in! This was not my default logic, but I’ve started playing around with settings in the MacOS midi setup, and found a solution: I had to switch from stereo to quadro, and assign CH 3-4 to the available speaker slots.
Attaching a screenshot in case anyone runs into the same issue as I did.
