Engine DJ feature request: Using standalone controller as dual media player

Hi,

I’m thinking that Engine DJ could give the option of toggling between/on/off the behaviour of its hardware (obviously through an update) and the option/possibility that I’d love would be to use my prime go+ as a dual media player instead of DJ controller like:

A toggle option to switch to player mode which would make the main and aux outputs as channel 1 and channel 2 outputs respectively, while turning off the controller’s own crossfader and channel faders, as well as making both the channel/deck volume and main volume having no effect on the output signal/volume.. like turning the two decks of prime go+ into two SC6000s, so that the connected external mixer would function completely and the prime go+ can be added as a dual media player to any professional top-class setup at any club or huge music event.

Regards,

Mav.

100% can’t happen, those outputs are hard wired circuits and certainly not something that can be re-routed into performing other functions as you describe.

If you want to use a DJ mixer, you’re better off buying gear that works with it, be it an external sound card (to use with software) or some media players with dedicated outputs for music to route into a mixer.

As an absolute hash up way of doing it, you could play the left deck to master outputs and the right deck to headphones then pass those two outputs to two separate channels on an external mixer …

But urgh the loss of functionality and the potential for poor audio gain structure especially on the headphone out would be dreadful - with nothing great actually achieved

As always, Vestax were ahead of the game back in the day.

This was a feature on their little CD consoles with a built in mixer. ….you could also send the individual CD outputs to an external mixer. See photo 5 on the link below.

Cool idea.

Not possible.

Headphone out is significantly worse in audio quality.

Used SC5000 is about 400ish €

In fact, you are looking for this, but with Engine OS.. I would honestly like to see such products on the market, but I understand that the 19 inch market is too small to make it interesting right now

I loved my D2 Director, which I bought because it had a full width screen, whereas Denon’s HD2500 screen displayed track info on half a screen width - way too small.
