Engine DJ 3.1 release announcement - sort of

There’s been a couple of DJ stores posting news of Engine DJ 3.1 with mentions of Engine OS updates

Doesn’t mention which hardware models will be benefiting from the updates … yet

A very remarkable and massive update indeed, although as it doesn’t include every single feature request/demand, from every single user, I’m sure it won’t be long before the whiners ignore all the great new features and scream “where’s the feature I demanded??!!??!!?” - Cest La vie

Here’s the cut and paste

Engine DJ has released a new version of their operating system, version 3.1. With it, it brings a series of new features along with improvements and fixes, ensuring Engine DJ maintains its strong DJ performance software reputation.

NEW RELEASE Engine DJ Version 3.1

Engine DJ 3.1 New Operating Software Features

The first new feature within the update is Touch FX, where you can use the touchscreen to interact and manage FX in a new way. Touch FX can be used for powerful effect combinations, swipe to create build-up, transitions and drops and latch Touch FX so your attention can be focused elsewhere. Other New Features

All effects within the 3.1 update feature a Frequency parameter which allows the effect to be applied to a focused frequency range. There is the added ability to read Smartlists (see below) created in the Engine DJ Desktop version.

Finally, some Sampler updates include Sampler audio being routed to any available channel or to the main output, the Sampler pad mode being accessed by pressing the ROLL pad mode button twice and the Sampler volume setting now memorised between power cycles.

Engine DJ OS Fixes and Improvements

Engine DJ operating software fixes include an issue where the Date Added field was incorrectly setting newly added tracks as the previous day, where the internal SATA drive was not showing up as a source following an update and where a track stayed in the Prepare list when loading to the deck in certain intervals.

Improvements include the Track Preview being routed to the headphones directly for instant track previews without having to set the cue source prior, clearer rewording of the Effect parameter reset behaviour setting for further clarity, and all products with peak hold VU meters have improved peak hold behaviour.

Engine DJ 3.1 New Desktop Features and Fixes

Regarding the Desktop, the new Engine DJ version 3.1 update introduces Smartlists. Smartlists automatically organise songs from all connected devices based on your pre-set rules.

There are also a few fixes included within the update, which include a fix for a prevented highlighted track from being updated when bulk editing metadata, fixing an issue where the Date Added field was incorrectly setting newly added tracks as the previous day and fixing a problem where Serato beat grids were not correctly imported.

I’d be surprised if it’s not all of them?

I would be more surprised if players got FX.

Anyway, the last sentence should cheer all the people that had issues with grid offset after importing from Rekordbox also? Only Serato is mentioned but maybe the cause is the same?

I’m pretty confident that’s the case

I too would imagine that the Prime ecosystem would get updated equally and simultaneously.

However an all in one console like prime 4 , 2 , go , live etc obviously have effects built in

Whereas someone with an SC model might only get the new fx by updating their x1800 or x1850 firmware at the same time as updating their SC deck software.

Hopefully that’s how InMusic have planned it. It’s a good way of promoting mixer loyalty instead of 3rd party mixers too.

Agreed, I’ve just spend £4k on SC6000s + x1850. I’m going to be pretty disappointed if my £1k SC 4 live gets it and my new set up doesn’t lol

no download currenty?

The DJ Stores who posted the article may have jumped the gun a little i think.

Getting the ball rolling early, probably part of the strategy.

Maybe generate a lot of hype?

Most of the stuff was previewed by the big youtube channels on the last update iirc, i know Phil Morse and a couple of others definitely went into detail about it.

But yeah could be to generate hype too, its a good update, especially for existing users.

It doesn’t matter when it’s officially available for download, I’m happy about every new update that brings new features.

Same here, its the best way to be. My £1200 investment in the Prime 2 (that was on firmware 1.6 when i bought it) has not only paid for itself several times over in DJ work, its also essentially a brand new device with all the additional features. ive ran out of likes today so cant drop you one but will just leave it here instead.

Wondering how that will work, and if it will work on sc6000. Probably only with a Denon 1850 mixer.

You will be amazed then. :relieved:
