all good so far, have updated to 5.0.1 and used it a few times live, largely without issue.
my primary issue right now it that it no longer seems to automatically recognise my usb hub and attached ssd drives [3]. prev i never had an issue. i can get around this by disconnecting [from one of the rear usb ports] and reconnecting, then it all shows fine. maybe i need to get a newer usb 3 hub - this one is quite old and may be underpowered for the new firmware update, thats my suspicion ps this is with an sc6000
no. however its e type of hub that has dual usb a connectors to draw extra power. between updates, nothing changed, so i can only suspect something in engin 5 needs a lil more power.. prob time for a new powered hub anyway.
I been playing with Engine 5 DJ since release a few weeks ago. I haven’t had any problems but I am not impress either. Pretty much the same limitations. Most of the features released for Dennon are esthetic. For me there are features more important than waveform colors, Stems, and ratings. Don’t get me wrong, those are good to have. I guess I’ll continue with VDJ and hope for a more impressive release soon.
Fortunately, for the majority, although unfortunately for you, not everyone wants the same features.
As with most of the firmware updates, several, highly voted for, user requests were included in the most recent update. Some were visual enhancements, some were more practical.
I am not arguing about it, I still feel there is so much more that can be done. I really hope that they take advantage of Traktor in the near future. The fact that after 1.5 year with the Prime 4+ I a still not in love with it. I just adapted, it say something. I spend and continue to spend time with Engine DJ and still does not feel at the level that I would like to see. Serato, I gave up after 2 months of using it and paid the 300 bucks to have VDJ. VDJ is the better option but there are a few things that they also come short. I see potential in Engine DJ I hope that I some point In Music see the potential as well and do more that a cosmetic upgrade.
It has been frustrating that I wanted to go for stand alone and it just not there yet. Marketing has been misleading.
Free software isn’t likely to have all the same features as paid for software.
Plus, from the paragraph of your feelings above, it seems that you’re not going to be happy with any DJ software. It might be worth considering a different hobby tbh
Funny that you said that. I’ve been stepping away from professional DJing exactly because that reason. I don’t like the direction of that the different software for DJing are going at the moment. But then again is not the first time that I skip changes in technology because I don’t agree with it and is not the first time that with a bit of patience and wait for the business to self correct, things get better. Well see what the future holds
