I am a professional wedding DJ, so i earn my money with djing. As a professional I have bought TWO Prime 4+ . Ive had the normal Prime 4 two years before and everything was fine. Then I saw the BETA Videos with the STEMS and thought: Cool, in a few weeks…

But what happened really:

  • Updates who freezes my system on live gigs
  • Corrupt databases
  • No STEMS for a much to long time and rumors that they are not coming
  • At the moment 3.4 on Desktop and 4.01 on the Device, the BPM detection is terrible, some songs that have 128BPM are shown as 140 or 190 BPM, nobody knows why
  • Buttons are breaking on my only 6 months old Player
  • SYNC not working perfect

DENON, really? OK - you are working on it, V4.0 nice graphic, but that’s all. Even the sampler function could be better solved oder bluetooth, why is there no EQ option without using one of my 4 channels, in the menu for example.

And sometimes I have the feeling that the master out sounds not really high quality.

So please: Concentrate on the error with the corrupt database und after this: Give us STEMS - as a mobile DJ they don’t have to be as perfect as DJay Pro or VDJ does, just good enough for a wedding DJ.

And one idea for the future: Give us the possibilitie to map functions to buttons and not only on the touch screen (key change for example).

To do different types of events including mobile events and weddings, I will never understand this kind of reasoning

If stems are ugly with a muddy sound for a bar or club audience, they will also be ugly for a wedding audience.

Without wanting to offend you, respect your customers, in my opinion it is to offer them the best possible quality whether they are, bars, clubs or weddings it makes no difference. A disgusting sound will always be disgusting whatever the audience in front of you.

The wedding audience is not a sub-audience that can be satisfied with muddy stems and tracks with infamous quality extracted from youtube.

Do not treat your wedding audience like most of your fellow wedding DJs, offer them the best possible experience, not just something average or “good enough”, but something that will make the difference between you and the others that will allow you to make all the difference.

For the rest of the points you raise, I suppose they are legitimate, even if I personally don’t have much to say about the BPM analysis which is rather accurate in 95% of cases, most other software does worse. Sync is based on the grid, so if your grid is bad, poorly adjusted, or your analysis is not good on certain tracks, it’s normal that Sync does not work correctly. For me Sync works rather well in 95% of cases, there will always be 5% of cases where you will have to manually adjust with the jogwheel to have a perfect sync. But this is also part of the work and skills expected of a good DJ. If you expect the machine to do everything perfectly for you in 100% of cases, it’s because you don’t have the skills to be a good DJ.

But indeed I agree that continuing to see view buttons collapsing inside Prime 4+ when it is a design problem that was already present on the original prime 4 is not normal. It should have been corrected and reinforced.

Finally it was obvious to any P4 owner to see that the P4+ was just a restyled prime 4 and an Amazon drm chip, it is not because you change the color of the leds, and the pads and that you enlarge the jogwheel slightly that it makes it a different unit. The interior is the same, the Soc is not more powerful, the Ram is not bigger or faster. It is just a prime 4 with a new look, the same qualities but also the same defects.

I think this is a balanced stance though: concentrate on a few basic annoyances, and only after that it’s time for the exotics :wink:

It’s like that. The thing about the MASTER OUTPUT, I think the audio is losing quality, I also feel it like it’s distorting or has ups and downs, Now I am on VERSION 4.0.1 on the device and I feel that with the audio, it solves some and fails in others, it is a struggle day by day
