I’ve been a professional DJ for 20 years, and after my Denon MC8000 broke, I bought a Denon Prime Go+ because it was advertised as the ultimate device for mobile DJs. My goal was to be able to DJ without a laptop. Unfortunately, I’m extremely disappointed. How can you program the Prime Go software so completely disregarding the needs of DJs? When I’m DJing at a wedding or birthday party, it’s crucial that I can add, remove, or move songs within a playlist while it’s running in auto mode. This isn’t possible with the Denon Prime Go. When I create a prepared playlist, I can add songs while it’s playing, but I can’t remove them or reorder them. This is completely unusable. How can you sell something like this to mobile DJs in good conscience? I contacted support, and the response was, “Ah, very interesting, we’ll try to address this in one of the next updates.” That was six months ago, but nothing has happened.
I guess I’ll have to DJ with a computer until I retire. Absolutely disappointing!!
Yes it’s not as flexible as using automix in VDJ for example but it is what it is.
There are two separate modes, continuous play and load to deck from playlist. Both have different features if you want to look at the manual for clarification.
What it seems you are doing is playing background music and that’s not the main feature of the controller. It’s meant for live play mixing one deck to another.
It may be disappointing to you, making it “unusable” - but not everyone turns up at a wedding and just sticks a playlist on.
Personally if I’m being paid to DJ at a wedding, then I will do exactly that - DJ live and on-the-fly for the entire event. DJ equipment (both software and hardware) is designed primarily for that - playing live.
Thanks for your comment, but it’s completely off-topic. When I DJ at a wedding or birthday party, I prepare 4-5 tracks in a playlist so I can react to any interruptions, and then I plan the transitions to other musical genres, always paying attention to how the audience reacts. That has nothing to do with playing a rigid playlist. 18,000 visitors on my guest list and around 90 top 5-star reviews speak for themselves.
If your playlist only has five songs (for interruptions) then what’s the issue? If you’re not using a playlist for anything else, why is the unit “completely unusable”?
I use the “Preparation List” for this when we’re still eating or just listening to background music.
Select any track, hold down the SHIFT key, and press the select button.
This moves the track to the end of the Preparation List.
Note: There is no feedback!
In the Preparation List, you can remove tracks with a swipe gesture, just like on a smartphone.
I haven’t yet found a way to change the order.
Warning! If the currently playing track ends, it will continue playing from where you are!
It will then resume from the point of your current selection!
This way, you can also skip a track.
In other words: Continuous Play always continues from where you are currently on the screen in the list!
It’s a bit cumbersome, but it works.
There might be a more elegant solution, but this one was sufficient for me.
Oh yeah, I have a P4. But I think all Denon DJ equipment is pretty similar in this respect.
