Denon Prime 4 - No master output signal / level meter lights, despite speakers and channels working

Hey all, Had my Prime 4 since 2021 and to be fair it has never missed a beat, until now.

Switched on the other day and saw that I have no master output level lights on either left or right. The channels are working correctly with level lights. Sound is also coming out of my KRK monitors, however there is no master output lights nor can I get any output to my recording device anymore, Have done all troubleshooting / checked updated firmware / factory reset etc.

I’m at a loss……Can’t find any posts with similar issue. Thought it was something silly but checked all leads and switches.

Really appreciate any help…According to support I need to take it to an authorised repair centre, closest one in New Zealand……super handy with me in Sydney Australia!

Hey, apologies to bump my own topic, but this is still going on and I have no idea why? I can’t find anyone with the same problem. Channels both working fine, speakers working fine, just zero master output lights or ability to record. :frowning:

First part is clear (do the VU meter LEDs light up on startup?) but second part needs a better explanation: what recording device, how is it connected,…

Hi Mate. What firmware do you have on your Prime 4? Since when has this problem been occurring?

Hey, thanks for the response. So I am currently playing decks 1 and 3, on those both the channels are working as they should, so the KRK’s are pumping, I can use the fader, all fx, everything is good. However the middle master output L and R is completely dead. What this means is that when I try and connect my ‘Evermix’ recording box, which simply takes the master output to my iphone. It’s dead.

So essentially the problem is that I can play around just fine, but if I want to record anything I cannot and I love recording mixes up to Soundcloud etc and for personal listening. I just upgraded to 4.3 thiking it might be a magical fix, but same problem

Essentially, I don’t have master output.

Think you should be better record a video, your answer did not really clarify the issue

You didn’t accidentally send phantom power into the master out did you?

I have seen this happen before with Pioneer gear when sending phantom power down XLR’s to the input of a mixer it kills the outputs for good.

Investigated more this morning. Figured to start at output and turns out a ‘pest’ in my house had managed to set the KRK’s at maximum DB. I turned it way down to -15 and guess what all is well. Master Input lights now back on and I can record again. Appreciate everyones input while I figured it out, pleased to say it wasn’t the Prime.
