Denon DJ Prime 4 – Audio Dropouts and Playback Issues

Hello everyone,

I’m using the Prime 4 with a laptop running VirtualDJ, but I’m experiencing major issues with dropouts and poor audio playback (similar to distortion).

The problem occurs with a brand new ThinkPad X13 (Intel Core Ultra 7 155U, 32 GB RAM, Windows 11). The Prime 4 is updated to the latest firmware (Engine OS 4.3.2 dbc91be79c), and the Windows drivers (v1.0.2) are also up to date.

I’ve tested various settings, both with the ASIO drivers and using WASAPI, and even increased the buffer size in the Windows Prime 4 control panel to 2048 — but playback remains unstable, with dropouts, especially when launching the sampler or activating an additional deck.

VirtualDJ is also fully up to date. When I use a slightly older ThinkPad X250 (Intel i5, 16 GB RAM, Windows 10) with the Prime 4, I don’t experience any of these issues. Likewise, when I use the new ThinkPad X13 with other controllers (Reloop Mixtour Pro, Numark DJ 2 Go), playback is clean and trouble-free.

So from my point of view, the issue seems to be related to the Prime 4 drivers.

What can I do to fix the unstable playback?

Thanks for your tips! – Markus

Your problem seems relatively similar to the one mentioned in another thread regarding a MixStream Pro Plus.
