It would be nice to be able to customize the boot image of the devices. I would upload an example image of my device with a custom boot logo, but new users can’t upload images.
If the decks display a boot logo when you switch them on, how many people would see that ?
Id guess for rental agencys? but it sounds like a pretty niche option to me.
Welcome to the forums! =)
No need for an example – it’s pretty trivial to imagine what you’re asking for. =)
Akai MPCs have a similar system, and changing it involves geeky hacking kind of stuff with obscure image formats. Not for the faint hearted.
Some MPC users have done it, and Akai even do it for special editions or if you’re enough of a celeb - but despite user requests, they’ve not done anything to make it user friendly, so chances of it happening on the Prime stuff are slim IMO.
Yes. Assuming the boot image is not in the ROM…
For each version you’d like to use:
- Downloading the boot image and extracting contents
- Replacing the image (PNG?)
- Build the firmware using
buildroot
- Load onto your device
Definitely not for the non-linux tech-endowed.
